"Gave this a try as a change to our favourite place the Auberge De Sanglier and wish we hadn't. It was reasonable, but no more. Tables were cramped together, and slap bang next to the road. Nothing special at all about this place."

We booked this place late in the evening. We thought we might be arriving after the last service for most restaurants so we asked for demi pension. We put our orders in over the phone. We got a three course menu, a musty room and a small breakfast for €130. The starters were quite disappointing(mine was cold and it seemed to have come out of a fridge and then hadn't been heated enough rather than it had been prepared and then gone cold) , the mains and desserts were better but just ok. The room did what was needed but I wouldn't have wanted to stay there any longer than one night with the shower/ toilet being part of the bedroom. Weird set up. It felt like we could have got a better deal as there was no real discount for booking demi pension. Next time we'll do a bit more research.
The restaurant has a slightly eccentric decor, but everything to do with service and the food is very good. We chose to share the chestnut beignets as a starter and were not disappointed the beignets were deliciously crisp yet soft and the use of chestnut was a real treat. We had different mains with St Pierre and Carre d'Agneau; both were well presented, tasty and substantial. We had a crumble for desert which was very well made. There was a good choice of wines at reasonable prices. We were given a digestif of Myrte liquer after dinner.
A good spot to have dinner if you find yourself around Zonza. The restaurant is located in the main street of this mountain village and it's a shame that from the restaurant terrace you can't enjoy the astonishing view that can be seen from the main square of the village just a few meters further down the road. However the atmosphere is still very cozy and the service is also very good. Food was nice and prices were average. Recommended.
