Larsen's Steakhouse La Jolla

Ambience-Stark and cold. Sat in the booth and it was very upright and uncomfortable. Food- Starters- Artichoke crab dip. Big portion taste wise pretty bland with some pretty fishy smelling crab sprinkled on top. Heirloom tomato salad- good but once again nothing I would be craving again. Mains-Dry aged petite filet mignon, dry aged new york strip, kansas city strip and prime rib eye. Conclusion after all sharing each others steak was that only the filet seemed to stand out. The rest just big hunks of meat that didnt have anything that stood out. Nothing was bad but once again but nothing left us wanting more. Sides- Brussel sprouts- same old same old, mac and cheese- was good but made with blue cheese which wasnt in the description which came as a welcome surprise. Hash brown- A round mound of hashbrowns fried on both sides. This wasnt that great. The middle portion of the hashbrown seemed to be like a potato gelatin. kinda weird. Service- Service was excellent! only thing I would recommend is crumb cleaning service. Over all for the price I would not recommend this restaurant. Everything had good portions but was just mediocre. Nothing left me wanting/craving more besides the bread. The bread was the only thing memorable. Came for a birthday and was just pretty let down.

calm, quiet early got quite a bit louder as it filled up nice piano music
