We had dinner in the inner courtyard of the restaurant. My table of three has chosen for the € 25 euro menu. Great starters (the marinated salmon and the nems filled with duck) and excellent main courses. In particular the veal kidney with pasta was excellent. Very attentive and friendly staff. A wine with corck was already identified by the staff before the guest could identify. Chapeau! One little detail for improvement (but by far balanced out by the positive points): do not use the same cutlery for the starter and the main plate. When the starter is fish and the main plate is meat or vice versa this can be detrimental to the taste of the main plate. And even with a € 25 euro menu you almost don't spare labour and cleaning costs when you change cutlery in between! And as an entrepreneur I think always in terms of cost containment! ;-)
Had a reunion lunch with classmates in Vitré and were recommended to try l'Artisan labelled as a modern Bistrot. We ate outdoor in the courtyard which was very pleasant. At lunch time the menu from the black board is rather limited with a set menu at 15.5 euros. The food was just average and the service was rather rushed. The Chocolate Mousse though was excellent. I still prefer au Vieux Vitré up the same Street (rue d'en bas).
We really enjoy l'artisan! The good is well done and if you love meat based dishes this is a great restaurant for you. It is my second favorite in Vitré. The atmosphere is great and the decor is very well executed. The waitress was super welcoming and even spoke a bit of English when I didn't understand. I highly recommend this restaurant!
This restaurant is in the historic center of Vitre. The building is a stunner and I love the decor of the restaurant itself. You might even be lucky enough to dine inside the fireplace, as tables are situated there. My meal was excellent both times I've eaten there, as was the wine. We plan on returning very soon!
