It's hard to understand why a chef of the calibre of Jérémie Ollivier hasn't been awarded all the Michelin stars by now.His food at l'Atelier Gourmand is simply breathtaking. Beautiful to look at, even more beautiful in the taste.Local fish, local meat, local cheese, local herbs and flowers and leaves are presented in a variety of small dishes from the set menu (priced at 110CHF during summer 2016).Some of the flavours you will not have experienced before. And you will be desperate to try them again.As the title suggests, this visit wasn't our first. Each time, we learn more and more. We've already booked to go again in a couple of weeks' time. The L'atelier gourmand (on the first floor) is the "haute cuisine" of the "Cafè du Nord" which is on the ground floor.The food is excellent and well presented! They use fresh and good quality of products and they play good with the taste. It is the kind of food you can find in posh hotels and places in posh ski resorts. The price is high but once again, you have to pay for quality. The main room although is nice i do not find it cosy, the private dinning area though (next to the bar) is the best place to be with your friends where discretion and good deco taste is there!The only thing they should ameliorate slightly is the service, we found it long, but I suppose preparing elaborated dishes...
Went three times during our week in Champery, including for our wedding anniversary. Been before and as always, the traditional food (roestis, fondue) was perfect, but we were surprised this time by some much more modern dishes - and they were very good indeed. Particularly good was the pea veloute with green tomato "tartare" and goat's milk and wasabi ice cream. Service was warm and friendly, with the waiter comfortable speaking English with my wife or gamely understanding my rusty French. There aren't too many places to eat in Champery, but this is the best we've been to and I thoroughly recommend it.
Le Nord is positioned as cosy mountainous food restaurant. It offers simple meals with a focus on cheese. Service is friendly and menu without surprise. However food was a little disappointing (very basic). And most annoying, you get the feeling of being a cow to...be milked. Prices are quite high for very basic food. You get fondu without any salad, or potatoes, or meat, for instance, for 25 chf (22 euros). And the waiters give the impression of being a bit pushy for you to order drinks and deserts. In short, the new management has brought greedy impression.

Haven't been here for 9 months. New menu, new staff. Not all positive I'm afraid. The gravlax salad lunch was nice but at CHF 25 a plat, it was pricey. The rest of the menu was a bit bland to be honest. Could have don without the bowl of cream it came with. We also had a boule of ice cream each, a bottle of water and two gravlax salads. cHF 69 in total. Not cheap. Shame.
Carte variée et plats très bons. Bonne découverte des plats de la région. Excellent service, le personnel est vraiment au petits soins.Le cadre très agréable. Avons pu profité de leur terrasse joliment décorée et fleurie à cette saison.Bonne dégustation à vous !
Das Restaurant Le Nord in Champéry ist ein sehr gemütliches Restaurant. Die Bedienung ist sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Speisen sind sehr fein. Es hat eine grosse Karte mit einheimischen Spezialitäten (Fondue, Rösti etc.). Insgesamt eine sehr gute Wahl!
The best spot in Champery to visit in order to try properly made Fondue, Raclette and Rosti. The atmosphere is immediate, welcoming you into a haze of melting cheese!
