L'Auberge du Choucas

I am a big user of trip advisor so we usually research restaurants pretty heavily online before making a reservation. we had previously looked at this restaurant in the area but had decided to make a reservation elsewhere. however once we reached the town I was so captivated by the charm we luckily ended up walking past this hotel and noticing the beautiful dining room from an outside window. I have no idea why anybody would leave a negative review for this restaurant. I am so happy I went with my gut instinct and ended up canceling our other reservation and making a reservation here. my boyfriend and I love experiencing new places and new menus and this was a truly one-of-a-kind unique expe...

I am a bit surprised by the mixed reviews as I personally had an excellent experience. The vaulted room is superb, not dated, it does not need to be contemporary everywhere. The service is indeed a bit old fashioned but passed well with the whole experience, up to the removal of the silk with the special tool which was a bit over the top and made us burst in laughter. The food is absolutely excellent, the service very professional and attentive. It is rare to find these days but a delight when it happens. I do not enjoy ski stations which look like touristic industries. The Auberge is located in the heart of authentic village, close to all shops. The atmosphere , the decoration in this old building is timeless. The room are adequate, every single meal is superb and the service is friendly and very efficient. We really appreciated the meals served in a beautiful dining room with an open fire. Specific award is given for the fantastic cheese plate associated with the large choice of wines that you can not find easily in other places.

Madame, the owner, is gracious and graceful and tends to her Inn as an artist who loves her craft. Everything about our stay was pleasing, especially the comfortable bed, the generously sized room and the extremely delicious dinner.....but even more, we will forever remember and cherish our delightful chats with Madame and her staff who made us feel most welcome and "at home".
