I’m quite surprised by some of the one-star ratings and the flimsy reasons people give for criticizing this restaurant. I often visit with family when they’re in town, and I’m always pleased with the service and the food. It's hard to expect gourmet quality at such low prices. Sure, sometimes the XL burger might not be as large as some would like, but for only £6.99, what do you really expect? During my family’s visit yesterday, I took my two kids and my grandmother with me, and, as usual, we left happy with a very reasonable bill. It seems like some people have unrealistic expectations. I wouldn’t take those negative reviews too seriously; they should be taken with a grain of salt.

Popped in for lunch. Good menu not too many choices. There is a lighter section for smaller appetites. I like the pub classics. I ordered the pie with mash, veg and gravy. It wasn 't the pie on the menu (no puff pastry lid), but still excellent and flavourful. Generous serving of mash and veg. Well worth it. Nice ambiance. Will definitely be 'popping in ' again. Thanks Answer to owner: Hi, please update your menu as it definitely says puff pastry lid.

Absolutely fantastic experience, great customer service from Owen, he was amazing and made sure everything was ok with our meals. Great customer service. Nothing to much trouble for him. Also the manager was great too makes u feel welcome as soon as you walk into the pub. Great service and the meals were lovely, I will definitely visit again and recommend to friends.

many thanks to all those who worked so hard on Friday 9 December. we had our Christmas meal with our friends and enjoyed our way. the young boy who did the carving he worked so hard had to serve so many people on himself. he even went to the kitchen to wash some of the dishes that they disassembled.i think his name was craig excellent service : well made Réservez une table maintenant

The meat was cooked to perfection and all the food was piping hot and tasty. The meals and deserts came out quickly so we didn’t have to wait long. The staff were friendly and the setting and decor was lovely, so a nice environment to spend some time with my family. Keep up the good work, it didn’t go un-noticed.

We had a family meal there last night. Although we had to wait a while to be seated, the staff was really friendly and the food was great. The only downside was that there were no more vegetarian options available. We'll definitely be back!

Booked Xmas lunch for 8 of us today. Service was brilliant, food was lovely. Carvery had a wide choice of fresh veg, good selection of meats. Lovely parsnips. Great value for money. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic birthday night out, atmosphere amazing and the food was Cooked to Absolute perfection thanks to the chef Kieren. Highly recommend and will definitely be visiting again! Réservez une table maintenant

I had a fantastic night filled with great music. The staff worked incredibly hard, and the pub had an amazing atmosphere. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
