Le Bon, Le Boeuf Et le Truand

Dans sa 8ème année d'activité, le propriétaire et hôte Eric s'en tient à un ingrédient frais, une philosophie culinaire pure qui distingue son restaurant de beaucoup d'autres dans le Vieux Lyon. Avec un menu relativement restreint, cet établissement chaleureux aux allures de grotte sert des repas excellents et sains et l'attention portée au service est la meilleure que nous ayons rencontrée à Lyon. J'ai commandé le Burger au foie gras qui était parmi les meilleurs burgers que j'ai jamais mangé. Le magret de canard et le surlonge servis à la table voisine semblaient tout aussi généreux et délicieux. Mon partenaire a commandé des salades lyonnaises qui étaient encore une fois saines, substantielles et tout à fait satisfaisantes. Une excellente bouteille de beaujolais nous a été suggérée par Eric et nous avons terminé avec une sélection de fromages et une merveilleuse grappa pressée. Si l'ambiance et le service comptent pour quelque chose, assurez-vous de savourer un repas au nom ludique « Le Bon, Le Boeuf Et le Truant ».

Myself and my partner visited this little restaurant on our last night in Lyon and it was great. We were greeted by a friendly man who was happy to translate the menu into English for us (I wish my French was better!). After recommending a perfect wine for the meal we had a very enjoyable main course and the plates were clean by the time we were done. The meat was cooked perfectly, square chips were tasty and the accompanying pepper sauce was also a compliment to the meal. There isn't too much to choose from in the menu but at the end of the day, if you want meat/steak, that's what you get. The pudding was awesome, chocolate tarts with fruit sauce. Very enjoyable meal out. €60 for two including main, desert and wine.

We hadn't booked but the proprietor found us a table. The food was excellent and the meat was perfectly cooked and came with a generous amount of sauted potatoes and salad, which was a relief since the menu gave the initial impression that vegetables were an extra. The pudding was also delicious. My only minor criticism is that customers were still being admitted at about 9.30 and were waiting for a table to become available, which in my experience tends to be unusual in France. I expect the table to be mine for the evening. Having said that I would return.

We've been there for a business diner and we got very nice pieces of meat with fried potatoes. Extremely good meat melting in our mouths. Good service too.

Situé dans une rue calme Service excellent et très sympathique avait le gratin d'andouillette et ma femme avait un burger au fromage Saint Marcelline.
