on holiday in the French west indie at guadeloupe we have made a day trip to the archipel les saintes with a short boat trip from the south of terre basse. throw a look at the map and they will see that the largest island in. the group les saintes terre de haut. when they come there, then a visit to fort napoleon one has to it just a short distance from the harbour and is really interesting, the leaders are very knowledgeable. but for me was the highlight of our visit to les saintes in cafe de la marine. it was a very hot day and a light meal was really every one of us wanted. I ordered a court of otopus with a long time; in this part of the world oktopus is called chatrous, but I must admit...
Nous vous conseillons, comme dans l'avis précédent R7546, de ne pas dîner sous le couvre-feu dans un restaurant qui limite volontairement le nombre de tables le soir afin de pouvoir assurer le service à 20 heures. Par respect pour leur volonté de respecter les règles, mangez un sandwich sur la plage avec votre pass sanitaire en main. Nous y étions la semaine dernière et à 20h01, la gendarmerie a procédé aux premiers contrôles. Merci à ce restaurant pour la qualité des plats servis, pour la discrétion de son propriétaire et pour la grande classe de ses serveurs/barman/souvenirs, dont l'accent du sud-ouest colore cette vue sur la baie seule. We were in Terre De Haut for the day and having spent the morning at the Fort and on Sugar Loaf Beach we headed back into town for some lunch. We arrived just at the end of service and were served a lovely meal of...local fish washed down with a very pleasant bottle of wine. I had a ray wing (skate) which was the best piece of fish I had in two weeks in the Caribbean. Our bill (attached) was 157 euro for the 6 of us less than 20 euro a person for food which we considered good value compared to other meals we had. I am surprised at some of the negative reports as we would happily recommend La Marine for lunch of fresh fish and a great view over the bay. Merci Madam
Our crew was attracted by the location and the menu of the Cafe de la Marine. However the disappointment started soon. There were not a lot of other guests in the restaurant, however we had to wait more than 30 minutes and ask explicitly to...order our drinks. After that we were presented a menu where half of the items were not available. Chosing the Tuna steak was a bad idea because it was throughly cooked so that it was dryer than can-tuna. Fortunatly we found a great new restaurant that serves amazing food (including tuna steaks) for reasonable prices just down the road. Just take a look at my other reviews to find out which one it is. We showed up about noon. The restaurant was nearly empty. We asked for a table for 5, and were told that the restaurant was full with reservations. Our hostess then told us that we could eat in a small balcony area where there were 2...small tables and another couple already eating. The food was OK. When we left, the restaurant was still mostly empty. Not sure why they wouldn't seat us in the main dining room. If we had felt more welcome, we would have ordered a more robust meal. As it was, we had appetizers and drinks, and gave our money to a more welcoming restaurant down the street.
