There were four of us, and everyone was generally satisfied with their meals: the fish meals and oysters were excellent. The main issue was that we could hardly hear each other; the music was excessively loud, and there were too many tables (and people) for the space. Given the reputation of this restaurant, one would expect to be able to engage in a normal conversation without having to shout to be heard.
Our dinner at Le Club was the culinary highlight of our trip to Montreal. The quail appetizer and duck entrée were delicious, especially accompanied by a selection from their extensive wine list (we had a Côte de Nuits red which, while a bit on the young side, was quite good). The atmosphere is lovely, and the service exceptionally pleasant and attentive. This is definitely on our list for a return visit.
The food And service is impeccable at this restaurant. It is a sign of a great restaurant when each dish has a distinct flavor. That was the case with all our five selections. The halibut had a distinct sweetness because of corn in the sauce, and the duck, which was beautifully tender, had a wonderful cherry sauce. We were celebrating our 54th anniversary, and it was very special.
My husband and I enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Le Club Chasse et Pêche. Due to a family emergency we had to last minute reschedule for a day later and they were very accommodating.
