Le Diplomate is an extreme disappointment. I went with 5 of my coworkers for dinner Thursday night. First, they completely forgot one of my coworkers meals. Second, we split the bill an even six ways. My card was charged twice and my coworker wasn’t charged at all. As a coworker group, the person who was charged is not somebody I can just ask to “venmo me” (they’re a VP and I didn’t notice the charge until checking my bank statement days later). Finally when 3 of us tried to order a final drink at the bar before we went home we were treated rudely by bar staff before being completely ignored. We let without getting served at all. Absolutely unacceptable behavior for a place that is supposed...
Le Diplomate feels like a quick trip to Paris without leaving D.C. I went there recently, and from the moment I walked in, I was charmed by the cozy, bustling atmosphere. The decor is classic French bistro, and the smell of fresh bread hits you right away. I couldn’t resist starting with the escargot, which was buttery and delicious. The steak frites were perfectly cooked, and the croissants were as flaky as any I’ve had in France. The service was top-notch—our server made great recommendations and made us feel welcome. It’s the kind of place where you want to take your time, savor every bite, and soak in the ambiance. I left feeling like I’d had a little taste of Paris right in D.C.
This burger. Let me tell you about this beautiful work of art. It's an ode to the Big Mac, and it's worth ever penny. Go. Here. Now. Aside from the burger, the steak frites and other French classics are executed well. Service is beyond good. It gets loud and busy, so grab a res or expect a wait...but go. Update: five years later, and still going strong Just went for yet another birthday burger celebration, and we are never disappointed. In fact, I was actually introduced to the salad verte as an appetizer it was as simple as is was amazing. A few froze's to match and polished off our burgers with some profiteroles! One of the best restaurants I've been to in DC. The menu is extensive and the food quality is excellent. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is amazing. I suggest making reservation because there are delays even booking in advance. The area where it is located is very nice, easy to access and safe. Réservez une table maintenant
