Having booked the restaurant for 12.30 we arrived on time and were shown to our table on the 1st floor. We ordered a 50cl bottle of wine and 'pichet ' of water. Our french is good enough to understand menus and chat to the staff. On this occasion there was a waiter and waitress. The waitress took our order 10 minutes later. No sign of the water. Whilst tables around us were being served with food, about 20 minutes later, I asked about the water and 1st course. We were told the 'Chefs been cooking Bouillabaisse. No apology. At the 4th request a pichet of water arrived. Just as we were about to get up and leave, the 1st couse arrived. it was lovely. Still no apology for the delay. Shotryafter, the main course arrived. We have eaten Baudroie before. It has been excellent and well presented on the plate. This time the fish and vegetables were very disappointing. We had a pudding and coffee. Nothing else could go wrong, could it? The waiter was walking round with shot glasses and 'Limoncello ' or similar. Having served all the other tables, he walked past ours with and back to the kitchen. My wife was very upset. Whilst it would have been nice to be offered the digestive, it was being snubbed that really hurt. When spending 120€ on a lunch, I expect the restaurant to accede to reasonable requests. I would usually leave a service tip of 10 15%. That day i left no tip and it hadn 't been deserved. when we left still 'no apology ' for the poor service. The restaurant is either under 'New Management ', 'Absent Management or 'Couldn 't care less Management '. I will no longer be recommending it to family and friends and will eat elsewere in Bouzigues in future.
Full of hope based on the reviews, we dined at this restaurant last evening. We chose grilled lobster. Everything about the meal, except our G&T and wine, was extremely disappointing. We usually find something good to say but sadly can't on this occasion. The lady who sat to our right pushed her plate away after trying her particular dish, as had the lady who'd occupied the same table earlier. It could have been a bad night for the Chef but our lunch today at Bar et Brasserie Alexandre excelled and it cost only half the price. Advice is to go to restaurants that artisans and locals go to, not the tourists.
We chose this restaurant because we love fresh sea food and the ratings were very high. However, first there is no grilled octopus on the menu (like the main picture shows) and the food was not fresh. One of my oysters had a strange unnatural greenish color and it was not at all Haslea ostrearia. The ice in the plate melted completely before the next plate arrived, so probably it was on display for quite some time. The lobster was not at all fresh but cooked before and heated you could completely dried meat with no juice and unequally heated parts. Would not recommend
We were fortunate a friend booked a table on the top terrace of this restaurant for us Saturday lunch time. The views across the lagoon and its oyster beds was priceless. The restaurant is clean the staff attentive enough but nothing special; not what we had experienced during the rest of our trip to this magical region. Perhaps we had been spoilt to date and our expectations were too high. The food was good crab well dressed but 32 euros for a platter of gambas!
