En route to La Rochelle, we stopped here for lunch and were generally glad we did. The welcome was genuinely kind and the restaurant was quite attractive. The menu is ambitious. Since we were traveling and have been having many large meals we opted for just a main course, dessert and a glass of wine. Sea bass fillets served on a bed of risotto with white and green asparagus was tasty, but the large white vegetables were not easy to cut with a fish knife! They tasted fine, but it was an awkward moment. So too, a lemon/pineapple dessert with a lovely sorbet encased ina tasty glacee'. The glacee' also was a problem for the knife. I had to turn it on its side, and it still was like trying, to cu...

Sometimes you just have to find a restaurant you haven't had the opportunity to research or reserve. That's how we found this gem of a restaurant in Saintes. Luckily folk were still away Dover got a table. It was clearly well regarded by locals regulars who were arriving for dinner. We sat in the quiet courtyard under cover and enjoyed the whole ambience of the place. Staff know their trade and the food and wine was superb. We will definitely visit again when in the area.

Food and service were excellent. We turned up without a booking but it wasn`t a problem To start with we had marinated tuna and then rabbit. Both were melt in the mount experiences and couldn't be faulted. The only fault I had was that when we asked for water, unlike other restaurants we visited, we were not asked if we would like tap water, instead a branded bottle of water was served which at €6.50 a bottle was a bit steep

We took our 10yo daughter here as a treat, as the school canteen menu was a bit dodgy. We had the Tuna tartare, which was light, delicious and perfectly seasoned, followed by the steak, which was tender, well cooked and accompanied by a lovely smooth mash and seasonal veggies. Very good bread, lovely setting and friendly professional service. Excellent food and very good value at around 25euros each. Highly recommended.

Quite original wine list (we took the white grave), cant say about my 1dt course, only that it was a marvel. The 1st one. Then came along the 2nd one- the pigeon . One of the best I've had.. For last parts I took the Cognac XO Le Roch, my 1st time to taste. Vaux le coup. The Cognac was a XO from Le Roch. 3rd marvel. Thank you, guys..

The menu holds wide and delicious offerings from land and sea. If you only eat vegetarian food it was easy to, at least, do a three course dinner. Extensive wine list with offerings from all ”corners” of France and Bordeaux in particular. On top of it all, very friendly and knowledgeable service.

Found by accident, had superb value for money “menu marché” Salmon tartare, beef bernaise and chocolate mouse. Very good organic red wine and coffee. Food and service both excellent, set menu only €20 for 3 courses. 10/10.Merci.
