A fun, bright experience for a midsummer lunch treat for Mom which Le Penguin did not disappoint. Lively, colorful, intimate dining room that fluttered with chatter. Attentive wait staff and Ivan made sure we were happy. Love the simplicity of the table with the penguin drawing on the rustic paper bag looking table runner and blue polka dot salt shaker fun! We feasted on the Tomato Burrata appetizer which melted in my mouth with a happy marriage of savory and sweet flavors. Saumon Grille was poached to perfection (although not sure what the crunchy shavings were atop the fillet) and Mom raved over the Moules Frite in a dreamy saffron sauce. This restaurant was the perfect setting for my birthday celebration. I started with a champagne toast and escargot, although the escargot was a little on the hard side. My boyfriend had the tuna tartare, which was delicious. For the main course, I had the hake dish and it was served just in time before they ran out. It was delicious, and to finish off the meal, we had the chocolate mousse which was better than expected. I was wondering why we hadn't been here before, as it was a fantastic culinary experience. A French pinot noir rounded out the meal perfectly. Overall, it was the best meal!

This restaurant serves a satisfactory meal with some flaws. The foie gras platter was excellent and definitely a favorite of ours. The steak fries were good, but not evenly cooked - part of the steak was overdone while the rest was medium rare. Be sure to request the peppercorn sauce with the steak! The Caesar salad was too overpowering for our liking, and my latte was disappointing. The desserts were decent, but not my top choice. Overall, it is a solid restaurant with friendly staff, but customers should be careful with their selections.

that was my favorite place. the last time the French pommes were best. Something happened. Hopefully one night, but everyone's eating was spoiled or overcooked. so sad.
