Aujourd'hui, j'ai découvert une autre facette de la cuisine française : une que je n'aime pas. Non, je n'ai pas apprécié mon expérience au restaurant Le Pouilly, mais la faute n'incombe pas à l'ensemble du restaurant. Je suis généralement végétarien, avec quelques exceptions, et quand j'ai vu le menu, mon cœur a presque manqué un battement ! Tête de veau, foie partout, pieds de porc, escargots... 90% du menu est de la viande, et même ceux qui ne le sont pas, contiennent de la viande de toute sorte... au final, j'ai pris un filet de hareng et un tartare. Aucun des deux n'était comme je m'y attendais. Le hareng... Est-ce vraiment utile de le servir avec tous ses arêtes ? Elles sont minuscules...

Head of calf, liver everywhere, pork feet, snails... a good 90% of the menu is meat, and even those that aren't, contain meat of some kind... at the end, I settled for a herring fillet and a tartare. None of them were as I expected.The herring was.. spiny. Is it really a thing to serve it with all the fishbones still in? They're tiny and cling to its flesh a lot.. I had to give up. The potatoes on the side were good, I guess?The tartar...

Je ne suis pas d'accord avec un précédent commentaire en anglais indiquant que ce restaurant est extrêmement cher. Nous avons payé 125 € pour 2 menus de 3 plats avec un verre de vin et un digestif chaque, ainsi que 2 cafés. Ce n'est pas cher pour Paris. Le bâtiment ancien est magnifique, apprécié des habitants locaux, et le personnel est très sympathique et tolérant envers mon français limité. La nourriture était délicieuse, typique de la cuisine française. Bien que je ne dirais pas nécessairement que cela vaut la peine de venir spécialement dans le quartier pour y manger, une visite en vaut certainement la peine et je n'aurais aucun problème à y retourner à l'avenir.

I disagree with an earlier English review that this restaurant is outrageously expensive..We paid €125 for 2x3-course meals with a glass of wine and a brandy each and 2 coffees to finish. For Paris, that's not expensive.Wonderfully old fashioned building, popular with locals and very friendly staff who were tolerant of my limited French.Food was delicious typical French fayre.Whilst I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth going out of your way for, if you're in the area then it's certainly worthy of a visit and I'd have no problems returning in the future.

Petit, excentrique, fait très bon avec des plats traditionnels français (les meilleurs escargots que nous ayons goûtés lors de notre voyage, par exemple). On se sent comme dans le restaurant de quartier parfait, bien qu'il faille réserver pour les occasions spéciales (ou commander le menu fixe qui semble très bon marché). Personnel amical et le voyage en vaut la peine.
Small, quirky, with traditional french dishes made very very well (best snails we had on our trip, for example). Feels like the perfect neighborhood restaurant, although might have to reserve it for special occasions (or order the set menu, that seems very reasonably priced). Friendly...staff, and well worth the trip and price
