We thought we'd try somewhere new for lunch last week and the "house special" on the photos outside looked enticing. However, despite reasonably good and attentive service, the set meal choices we chose did not represent good value for money. The garlic soup was tasteless and watered down, the bread was not fresh ( most unusual in any French restaurant!) and although the "House Special" main plat looked interesting, it wasn't too well presented and actually wasn't brimming with flavours either. The steak was tough too, sadly. On to desserts and we both plumped for the crème brulee, thinking this can't fail, but it did miserably......some kind of caramel sauce from a squeezy bottle poured ( far too heavily) on top. It was somewhat sickly and so unlike any crème brulee one would expect to eat..We decided against coffees and left, feeling pretty disappointed, but two redeeming factors, the wine we chose was fairly decent and so were the staff, but such a pity that the food didn't match.Sorry to be harsh, but this is a fair appraisal of our lunch.PS...if you don't like confined spaces, the cave is a little claustrophobic and this was but a quarter full.

We had not planned to eat here but most of the restuarants were closed. Our waiter could not have been more pleasant and although his English and our French were a challenge we got there! Three of the party ordered the complete menu which I think was around €15 - 20. The foie gras was extremely generous and delicious, the soup a garlic broth was a little ordinary. Steak - in France it is often a thincut piece, was served with chips and salad. If you like rare this is not for you but our guest was happy. The duck legs were delicious and also the creme brullee. I had a simple salad. Wine was not cheap though although this is a wine growing area all the places we visited had mainly expensive wine even the carafs. All in all an unexpected pleasant evening with simple yet tasty food. Seating is outside a lttle off the main square and inside a small stone cellar which was small yet pleasant.

The owners interrupted their own lunch to accommodate four of us for a late lunch. This welcome set the tone for an excellent experience. We had the menu with a delicious complex onion soup, a main course of duck sausage and duck confit respectively and a rich and dark chocolate mouse. The confit was particularly remarkable: it is difficult to keep the duck meat succulent while browning the skin. The chef succeeded and the result was utterly satisfying. We had a regional rose with lunch. Great food, kindness and excellent value make Le Richelieu an excellent choice!

We visited two days ago as a group of seven. The staff were really pleasant and polite, accommodating gluten free and vegetarian requirements without any fuss. The food was first class. Highly recommended.
