There seems to be a shortage of good bistro restaurants wherever I end up in France. Perhaps they are a relic of better days in French cuisine. This restaurant shows what can be done to update the bistro for a more modern time. Congratulations to the owners for doing a great job. This is basically a shop where you can buy great food and excellent drinks (including beers produced specifically for them I think) but if you like you can also sit down and have the same food and drink cooked and brought to your table. The kids had croque-monsieurs followed by a local cake. I had beef cheek stew followed by Rhum baba. My wife had vegetarian salad. The range of food was superb, the food was deliciou...

When visiting the area, we stopped at this lovely village with plenty of history, mainly rom the first world war. It was a glorious winter day and we made the choice of lunchig, by chance, at les Mets de l'Estran. We were not disappointed as the menu was very well balanced with exactly the right products from the region. Charming service and avery nice tableby the window. Nice nd unpretentious white wine.Just perfect to watch the boats passing by.

Very friendly, well priced eatery in the picturesque town of St Valery. Run by two amiable women (who are keen to improve their not inconsiderable knowledge of English), one can sit and watch the world go by drinking local French beer and eating local dishes. We were very successful at doing this several times. My particular favourite was their house special - a baguette with local lamb pate and samphire, washed down with a crisp blond. Delicious!

We found it by chance, because it is situated next to a small public parking place.Only 3 tables for eating, and it was full, so we took a take out. They also sell local products. High quality for the take out, cannot say for others.
