L'inattendu - Réserver une table

Booked several months ago for a grand finale to our latest European tour at the tried and trusted Toque Blanche' in Chauny. Arrived to discover that in August it was taken over refurbished and rebranded as L'inattendu. First signs were good. We were given free...choice of a set of beautifully refurbished rooms. The one we chose was lovely well equipped with a gorgeous bathroom lacking only in hooks for hanging stuff and a capacious and very comfortable bed. Room service coffees were delivered promptly. Then things started to go wrong. The free WiFi consisted of a digit code that did not after trying many and several connections connect to anything. In spite of asking for help we got nowhere. Asked when we wanted dinner we asked to eat at and were told we could only eat at No big deal. But when we went down to eat it was clear a grand gourmet experience like at the old Toque Blanche was not going to happen. Place settings were on paper mats. In the eating area adjoining wide screen TVs were showing Sport. We were offered a cocktail menu. When we chose Mojitos types on offer) we were told the ingredients were not available. We chose a bottle of wine (which was good The new menu is more gastropub style on plastic. Looked OK but the starter Carole wanted wasn't available. Neither was the dessert I fancied. Now the food when it came was actually pretty good. Very much top rate for a gastropub type experience. The servers were very sweet and wanted to do well but were seriously lacking in experience and proper supervision. Such a disappointment when we had been hoping for a really special last night. Then we were asked when we wanted breakfast. The card in the room said it was available from Having a train to catch we requested We were told was the earliest. Later Carole caught up with Madame and asked if we could bring it forward to Madame said no problem. At next morning we went down to find nothing ready and no one up. In the end at we knocked on their door and they got up. There was no food ready and monsieur had to drive off and get bread and croissants. In the end breakfast was good plentiful but rushed. And Late! All a bit French Fawlty Towers really. When we paid we explained everything politely to Madame who agreed to give a generous discount. Lessons apparently learned. It was such a shame because all the makings are there for a great stay. But it really needs to be taken firmly in hand and in our case our special night stay was very much spoiled.

after more than 20 years of common life, we have taken the step and obviously, not obvious to find a place worthy of this name and its years. short, after a dinner in this establishment, then useless to look elsewhere! This place was the right place. a rdv to prepare the whole and the day j, it was simply necessary to let magic work. Here we are in this evening so much expected that everyone must dream for a wedding dinner. super warm atmosphere, high-quality waitress and waitress on its 31, aperitif on their magnificent terrace and outdoor garden, magnificent table and fine dining! The boss served as a conductor throughout the meal and it was splendid! some family members took a room and pdj, pay attention to the eyes between the rooms and pdj, the perfect exists!! Everything was adorable.Mr/mme baumel and Filipino thank you from all hearts and strongly recommends (!quality, her pay gents , ladies) that good memories but count on us to come back !

the exterior and interior frame is beautiful but there is a big but the reception is less friendly, the service is very long. When on the map, we're far from what we can expect from a restaurant that is so high-end. disappointing overall.

Our local guy recommended the restaurant and what can I say, it delivered. Nice wine card and a very good food. Everything what we‘ve ordered was very good and fresh. Can highly recommend it.
