Local was our last stop on our pedal pub and I was excited to try it since we had time to eat, drink, and relax. I had seen excellent reviews, I was glad it was the last one. We sat on the patio which is very cute, fits the atmosphere of the restaurant. When it came time to ordering beverages, our server was ready. We had no issues with the wait time given our group was large. When our drinks were delivered, there was a question with one and how it didn’t match the description on the menu. All of the sudden, our server wasn’t the nicest in response and seemed very annoyed that we were wondering why a drink with a specific colour didn’t come out the way it’s mentioned. Some of us ordered food and it was okay but her attitude turned off quite a few of us keeping us away from ordering food and wanting to go elsewhere after our one drink. We didn’t stay too long. After our bills came out, there was a moment where our server commented about our table to another in range of where I did hear. It was quite unprofessional to say the least. I understand having bad days and being a little off in service, but hearing her complaints to another table about us that seemed to have her friends wasn’t the best look especially after I tipped 22%. I won’t write off this one experience but it’ll be a bit before I try it again.

My guest and I arrived on a quiet Thursday evening. We asked to seat outside, and found ourselves adjacent to a speaker that could have been turned down a notch or two. Given the sparse crowd, the higher volume was a tad unnecessary. Our server introduced herself and took our drink order...then she did something unexpected. At the conclusion of giving her our order, she repeated her name and then sort of, insisted that we divulge our names. We both found this a bit odd, and just assumed that this was a new take on 'personalized service '. Except at no point afterwards were we addressed by our names, like, Did you enjoy your meals (insert names here)? Instead, it was the usual, How was everything? That oddity aside, the food was served hot and tasted as expected. No disappointment on that front. We will definitely visit again, but will opt out of sharing our names...or give pseudo names for fun.

I was recently in Winnipeg on a work assignment for a week. I ate at some very good restaurants, but the Local was by far my favorite. I had a basic dinner of wings, burger, fries and a couple beers. The food quality was very good and was served quickly despite being a very busy (concert at the Life Center). The entire staff was great, as I was helped by at least 5 different team members during my visit. However, my assigned server, a young lady named Taylor H. stole the show. She did a phenomenal job! My only regret is that I went there on the last night I was in town. Had I went earlier in the week, I would have been a repeat customer for sure. Highly recommend the Local if you find yourself in DT Winnipeg. And special thanks to you Ms. Taylor for your hospitality and for making a visitor to your city feel a little less like a stranger!

Brings back old fashioned GOOD SERVICE! Brought the parents and the husband here after seeing the good reviews. Didn’t have high expectations: just booze and pub food right? Wrong. Amazing choices and cool options. I had the ahi tuna bowl and it was fresh and filling. Everyone loved their food and we had such fun drinking the whiskey tea with our elderly parents (lol). Danica and Jay took the time to learn our names and have some great conversations with us which really gave the personal touch. I left thinking “It’s not IF I’ll be back, it’s WHEN”. Don’t think just come here!
