What a shock we had! Our hotel recommended L’Oulo and as we walked in we did wonder, it’s not impressive looking from the road or car park, but we were warmly welcomed. The menu like most french restaurants isn’t large, but it was stunning. The food could be described as fine dining, an amazing starter of pea veloute with scallops we both loved, some well priced local wine, and mains of fish and pork, both really good, finished with cheese and a fruit tart, and a very reasonable price. You won’t be disappointed, we would definitely go back, it would be high on the list of best food at sensible prices, and very relaxed, terrace dining.
It is probably the first time in my life that I stood up and left because the food was not good, then edible. Melon tasted old fridge and entree was a non cooked stuffed pork meat. Half of the meat was raw as was the stuffing, the vegetable were soaking in heavy thick gravy, no flavor. They offered to cook the pork again which could have been nice but an overall experience, lack of care, lack of any taste, cleanliness not at its best got the best of me, I could not see any miracle happening I chose to ask for the bill and leave.
This was one of the best meals of my life. I was served by the mother and her son while the father was the chef in the kitchen. Literally. It was like a meal at some family’s house. You could feel the warmth in their behavior and in the food itself. The food was as classic Provençal as it gets. I was touched by the whole experience. I will never forget this meal.
After reading Trip reviews we booked for dinner.....amazing menu so much to choose from. We decided on the ‘Surprise’ menu wow each course fabulous, creative delicious food, attentive service and great wine. If you are in Mazan book, you will not be disappointed!!!!
