I recently met two friends for brunch at this restaurant and unfortunately, it was not the best experience. It was evident that there was a lack of staff, with only one waitress and one person taking orders at the register. The counter next to the register was filled with dirty dishes and the overall cleanliness of the place was lacking. Our table even had a dead chrysanthemum in a pot, which we moved to the floor. Despite these shortcomings, the food was actually quite delicious. However, I am not sure if I would return or recommend this place, which is unfortunate as independent cafes are few and far between.
The restaurant had a very diverse menu that catered to everyone, and the vegan options were particularly impressive. Although all the cakes looked amazing, I decided to go for the vegan breakfast and black coffee. The only downside was that we had to wait quite a while for our food, but it wasn't a major issue as we were enjoying our conversation. By the time the food arrived, we were quite hungry. We sat in the back in the outdoor area, which was a bit plain but warm enough with the heater. Despite the wait, the food was delicious and the portions were generous.
We chanced upon Luckes on a day out in Chichester, a lucky chance for us. The Frittatas we had, served with homemade coleslaw and tzatziki or hummus, were the best ever, with deep layered slices of vegetables. What’s more, we discovered that Sunday lunchtimes and weekday evenings the menus are totally GF and feature a lot of local fish. If only we lived closer! You have to wait a bit as food is cooked to order, but that’s all to the good and the service is excellent.
As a sensitive Coeliac who rarely eats out because of the risk of cross-contamination, I was excited to find the cafe owner totally understands this! I had gluten-free panini, cake and coffee, which were all delicious and I felt safe eating here. The food was of a high standard, the staff friendly and helpful with it also being dog-friendly, perfect! We will most definitely be back when in the area. Thank you for a lovely lunch!

We've been meaning to drop in for ages; so glad we finally decided to have Sunday brunch here. Eggs Royale and Bacon eggs (with spinach and avocado) were perfect completely freshly made and great portion sizes. Atmosphere is calm and casual, with all the Sunday papers to hand. The staff are lovely. There's nothing not to love about Luckes...
We had dinner on a Saturday and had a fantastic experience with delicious food, a nice glass of red wine from the house, and friendly service in a cozy atmosphere. The wood fire was both effective and lovely. We highly recommend this restaurant in Chichester for dinner. Thank you.
Superb. Definitely worth a visit. I will be back. The frittata was delicious with a fab salad. Coffee was great. Cake was yummy. Decor was lovely with a very cosy log burner.
The food is fine but please don't put spanakopita in the microwave to heat up as it makes the phyllo pastry go soggy, so totally spoiling it. Good to see you have newspapers

Best brunch in Chichester. Poached eggs perfectly cooked, tastiest bacon ever and delicious mushrooms. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Luckes now serves the most delicious fish and seafood dinners Thursday to Saturday. Beautifully cooked. Really worth a visit.
