Giving this 1 star rating is actually really disappointing for me and my partner. We have been to malty grain a hand full of times and loved it but yesterday (mothers day lunch) completely ruined our favourite local brewery and now we can't go back. We arrived at 12pm for our booked lunch with family from nz and we had been raving about the place. They went to seat us at a table of 5 even though we had booked for a table of 6 and a pram. This was fine at the time (everyone makes mistakes) but upon reflecting we were made to feel like we had made the wrong booking. The waitress then spilt a glass of champagne on my partner without a real apology and just wiped the cutlery without changing it...
I saw this place via scoopon so I got a voucher so my wife and I went here for dinner.It's a little out of our way but we liked the place. We had a beer tasting paddle ($15) each and the beers weren't bad. Fish the bartender/brewer enjoyed telling us about the beers.There was also a wedding on the same night in the adjoined function room. So we waited a little while until the kitchen was available for dinner. I had the paella and my wife had the gnocchi. The meals were nice quality, not huge serves but not small either. We went for lunch not long after the floods and they were still recovering. The service was lovely and there was a good variety of beer. Not a lot of wines available but due to the circumstances it was understandable. The food was good and sourced locally which is lovely. It would have been nice as we were sharing not to have it all come out at once but not a huge problem. The servings for the share dishes weren't large so it you are hungry order more than you would normally. Lots of gluten free and the chocolate brownie was one of the best I had tried. Will go again when they are under less stress.
A Friday night special treat for my wife and I. We were not disappointed. Opting for the mild curry on offer on Fridays. The dish was perfect, piping hot and mildly spicy. Options for more spicy curries were available. The craft beer was very good unfortunately they had sold out one of my favourites being a true I.P.A. but the substitute was very palatable. We were so impressed that we are returning for their stone grill that they offer on Thursdays. I always compliment the chef when having a stone grill.

Friends booked this venue for a get together. Initially we weren't thrilled, our daughter gigs here and my husband has had a beer and snacks while waiting but was not happy with the expensive bar menu. This time we sat inside at a table and we were delighted with the food. Menu is not big, and does not cater for kids, but the food was delicious and we will go back again. Lovely local venue.
Visited Sunday lunch 26 Feb 2017 as a group of four friends. One being a Coeliac.. Warm welcome, nice environment, excellent choice of crafted beers, lovely food. Opted for the Farmers Plate to share with extra Wedges. Delicious locally sourced produce. Plenty of gluten free options. Knowledgeable and friendly owners. A very pleasant experience, highly recommended.
I have been here lots of times with my family and it never disappoints. Fish (Chris) and Tanya are friendly and great hosts. The food is yummy and the craft beers are really special. My son, who is a seasoned beer drinker, loves sampling the different varieties. Good atmosphere and on Sunday there are local musicians. Love it.
2nd visit here and once again fantastic, the atmosphere excellent the food excellent and the beer excellent ...... Can't fault the place. The lady owner looks just like Sophie Ellis Bexter :-) Thanks a lot guys a great night!!!

Came here for the first time to try it out. Found it to be an excellent venue for any situation, very nice friendly staff, food superb, and variety of beer great. WELL DONE
Overpriced. Terrible coffee . Paid $7 for a coffee that tasted like dishwater.....disappointed . Great location but wont be back
