After we placed our food order, our meals were brought out by a different waitress. That was fine, but we didn’t see our original waitress again until it was time to pay the bill. Here’s where things took a turn: after we settled the check and left a tip on the receipt, we received two notifications that Mama's Kitchen was attempting to process two additional charges. It appeared our waitress was trying to give herself an extra tip!
As for the food, it was disappointing. My omelette tasted like it had been cooked in an old cast iron skillet, the grits were cold, and my wife’s much-anticipated salmon croquettes were more like salmon croquette patties—definitely not what she expected. Overal...
Nice, low key restaurant. Lived in Detroit my entire life and only found out about it in the last couple years. I’ve ordered on doordash and also dined in.You get a lot of food for your money. Every time I’ve dined in, my waitress is Lacey and she’s a total sweetheart.I’ve had skillets, waffles, eggs, breakfast meats, hot chocolate and toast from there (get the Texas toast—omg! and everything is always delicious!
Food is average at best. Service was slow. French toast was dry (even after it I drenched it in syrup see pictures). I asked for eggs with cheese and got dry eggs (see photo). First and last time coming here. I could’ve got this from any Coney Island. Definitely over hyped…
I ordered the salmon croquettes and grits, and I was disappointed; they were not good at all. However, I have to commend the service, which was excellent!

It's an 8 Mile thing. You really need to have grown up around here to understand what I'm saying.
Great food. First time coming but it will not be my last. Awesome experience.

Hashbrowns were dry and awful the grit were awful no real butter
It's ok a little .... Basic for me but pepper and salt is ok
