I came three times to Mandalay and it was excellent every time. The food is fresh and tasteful. The dishes are familiar asian favorites, but with a Burmese twist. It makes for a unique experience, and the cherry up is that the food is so good. Don't miss the Burmese Dressing. I love the stuff. I think they could improve the quality of the interior. It comes cheap if the quality and prices of the food are not.
We've been going to Mandalay for many years and always enjoy the food. Beware, they are generous with the spice. Medium packs quite the kick for me, but others in our party opted for mild. Sadly, dining in is not currently an option. I do hope they bring back the tables and chairs soon reopen the bar as the drinks were fantastic! . For those wondering, our vegan friend also loves this place!
This place looks a little dated but the food is good. We ordered the ginger salad, samosas and Ngar Hin (fish with tomato base curry). All of our food came out fast despite it being a busy Saturday evening. If you like spice then ask for it above medium because medium spice was not spicy at all (regarding the fish dish). Parking is a bit tricky in this area and their lot is limited.
Come eat here! Food is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is also very knowledgeable about dietary restrictions and was able to safely accommodate gluten free. Because it's so great, expect a bit of a wait for weekend dinner. The short wait is more than worth it. Look forward to continuing to visit and can't wait for them to move across the border onto DC's Upper Georgia ave Réservez une table maintenant
This place is probably my favorite in Silver Spring. Hard to find Burmese food and the food is just delicious. Tastes like a hybrid of Thai and Indian but even better than both, and the owner is super friendly. Our favorite dishes are the tea leaf salad, gram fritters, and any of the entrees with the sour mustard greens sauce. 10/10 would recommend.
My friends and I eat here every few months as the food is always prepared excellently and everything we have eaten has been great. The tealeaf salad is not to be missed. The entrees are spiced to order. The coconut ice cream is a treat and we enjoyed eating the coconut itself as well.
When it comes to their food presentation, I have to say that it doesn't quite compare to the vibrant looks of Thai, Japanese, or Vietnamese cuisine. It strikes me as rather simple and unremarkable.

Friendly bartenders that make some damn tasty cocktails, occasional great live music, delicious small plates and entrees, and a funky vibe of welcoming intimacy. Recommended!
