7th grade at Marina del Rey Junior High School was awesome. It 's when I realized my parents got their money 's worth for private flute lessons since 2nd grade my flute teacher pulled some strings so my bestie and I could play in the senior (advanced) band. Suh weet! Yes, two pipsqueak newbies could play a tune or two but first we had to prove ourselves from the last 2 seats in the back of the woodwind section. This meant sitting right in front of the brass section and Carlos the dreamy trumpet player. He and his posse loved to blast us out of our seats; I 'm certain my hearing suffered from their nonsense, but I still managed to flirt. And by flirt I mean acing the piccolo part of Stars and Stripes Forever . None of the band members knew we could pick up a piccolo and play. We earned respect that day and moved up to 1st and 2nd seats faster than Carlos and posse could tap the water keys on their instruments. Tonight 's visit to Manhattan House was superb except for the loud music from the overhead speakers. After several minutes of yelling at each other, one of us got a clue and politely asked Adrienne if the music could be lowered a smidge. She obliged and amazing conversation ensued. Terrific music by the way, thanks Adrienne! It had been several years since our last visit not really sure why because our meal then was fantastic. Tonight 's was equally wonderful. Chicken Parmesan, comforting and delicious...huge portion too. Butternut squash risotto with pancetta, salty, earthy yumminess. Pretty sure we should have ordered a bottle of wine to save a little on the cost of 4 glasses. The ceasar salad needed more salad dressing, but that was easily solved with a request. The grilled bread with burrata was super delicious with a drizzle of the mint salsa verde and a sprinkling of Kosher salt. We shared the olive oil cake and cannoli, delightful end to a wonderful evening. Terrific service. Delicious food. I might need to beg the chef to bring back the almond pesto, it 's the stuff dreams are made of. Must not wait too long to visit, this place is yummy good!
