Good place for sandwiches, meats, and other authentic Italian foods. I recently tried some of the frozen soups and they were pretty vile. I’d highly advise to stay away from them—especially the chicken and the Italian Wedding soup. I could be wrong, but there doesn’t seem like much quality control as far as the freshness of the soups are concerned. There are no dates on the containers, so who knows when they were actually made and for how long they have been sitting in the freezer. My visit to Matera deserves somewhere between 4 and 5 stars. I stopped at a Monday afternoon and the place was full of high schoolers. Every time a place in the week is so, it is a good sign. I went with a few recommendations for a first timer, but I ended up with the H7 and I'm glad I did. It was one of the best vodka chicken parms I ever had. The woman asked what bread I wanted and I let her choose. She recommended the Ciabatta, and it was the only best Ciabatta I ever had. It absorbed the vodka sauce perfectly while the perfect tackiness on the outside. I can't say enough about the service I received at Matera's. My business hosts a meeting in The Loft, which is their upstairs event space, two times per month, so I have the owner's personal contact information. My friend ordered food from the store but before he got a chance to pick up the order he had to deal with a family emergency and the store closed. I called the owner and someone met me at the store to make sure the food was cooked fresh to fulfill my friend's order. Not too many businesses offer such exceptional service any more! Absolutely incredible food! A small, family owned business, that truly is always top notch. The food is always delicious and fresh, and the entire Matera’s team is a joy to work with. I work as a pharmaceutical rep and partner with them for catered lunches and they’re always willing to make the drive and make things work! Can’t recommend this place enough!

The food at this restaurant is amazing! I work nearby so it's really convenient to grab something from the hot dishes or a sandwich. They have a wide selection and generous portion sizes. The interior is clean and charming, and the staff are fantastic.

Matera's on Park is amazing! They offer Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day celebrations, and each time our guests rave about the delicious food, especially the homemade mozzarella, which is hands down the best in all of New Jersey!
