I went to eat at Mayflower with my husband and mom on 03/27/2013 and I regret it deeply. We use to love going there because the food had always been so good, but this trip proved to us that things have changed. The staff were really friendly, but the food was the whole problem. My mom and I got fried shrimp and my husband got the broiled combination plate. The flounder my husband got had very little meat, but a huge number of bones! My husband's plate cost $15.99 and the portions were so tiny it wouldn't have filled up a 5 year old. The 2 fried popcorn shrimp plates were horrible! I ordered a combination of fried shrimp and oysters. When the order arrived, there were 4 small oysters on a pile of shrimp. The shrimp was okay, the oysters tasted like they had sit on the dock all day, weren’t even remotely close to be considered fresh. The iced tea had a weird taste as well. Disappointing that for an $18 plate, the 2 hush puppies were the star. I have eaten at most of the Mayflower locations throughout many years, and consider this one to be the absolute worst. My wife and I spent $60 for a $20 meal. A gas station hotdog and bag of chips would have been more satisfying. 2020: Popcorn shrimp platter and Alaskan white fish excellent. Huge portions, great price and superb service. Edit after 3 years 2020.... stick with the popcorn shrimp (ONLY) as your only seafood choice. Baked potato and fries ok. They use fries mainly to make a heaping plate look huge, but all fries. All other fishes shouldn't really be on the menu. Their specialty is popcorn shrimo. Period. Sauces are very strange to say the least yet they have the best blue cheese in a 50 mile radius and the worst tartar and chili (no cocktail) sauces for a fish place. Water is not even potable. Family of 6 we wouldn't even swallow the water. Good popcorn shrimp though and worth our now once a year visit.
