We were going to the theatre to see The Boy Friend (which was superb and great fun) and thought as we had had a good meal at the restaurant last time we would eat there again. The food was again very good but it was totally ruined by the poor inept service. We arrived at 6:15pm (the show starts at 8:00pm) so we thought we would have plenty of time to eat a relaxing meal. The server took our order for predinner drinks, wine and meal order and within about 10 minutes the drinks, wine starters arrived all together which was not a problem at all. My wife started with the smoked mackerel pate whilst I chose the ham hock terrine with piccalilli, both were served with a salad and toasted artesian b...

I always enjoy going to the Menier Chocolate Factory Theatre in Southwark because you can have a delicious meal on-site before the show. Recently, we saw Sandy Wilson's musical "The Boyfriend" in its final week and had a fantastic time both before and during the performance. The a la carte menu offers a variety of appetizers such as Smoked salmon pate, Chicory tart, and Cauliflower fritters, as well as main courses like Lincolnshire sausages, Sea bream, Roast duck, and burgers. The set-menu, which changes to reflect the current show, had a French theme to go along with the Riviera setting of the musical. We enjoyed French Onion soup and Bacon Tarte for starters, followed by Coq au vin and Qu...

The Menier Chocolate Factory, (so named because the building is a former chocolate factory), does not make enough of its name, there are rarely any chocolate based dishes on the menu, which is a bit disapointing. The building incorporates a gallery, a small theatre, a bar and a restaurant. On the food front the Restaurant has gone down hill over recent years. Last time I was there, they were trying to match the set menus to what was on at the theatre, which did not really work, i.e., a 70′s based play merits 70′s style food. There are some pluses they do have an ok selection of inexpensive wines and the staff are friendly.

Went as part of a group for a pre-theatre meal and we all used the fixed price menu. The food wasn't bad so much as the portions being very small and consequently pretty poor value. The choice of mains was just two: courgette quiche was just that with nothing apart from six lettuce leaves on the side, and the coq au vin had a lot of bones. For £17 for 2 courses I felt I had been overcharged for what I had eaten. I was hungry again before the end of the show. Will definitely visit the theatre again but avoid the restaurant in future. I have enjoyed many great shows at this intimate venue, but it is not what it used to be. This used to be one of my favorite local theaters, and I have supported it for years. However, the restaurant is now closed, and the bar selection is limited. The staff has lost their sense of customer service and can be rude and arrogant. This can be attributed to poor management and a negative culture. Unfortunately, I will not be returning and advise others to think carefully before visiting until improvements are made.

the space is well joined industry lost and found. jam glasses with tee light, misfitted furniture, rough wood, exposed pipework and brick. it feels healed, but not affected. the set menu changes pleasantly depending on the show, regional re

Ate here at lunchtime before a show. Mostly had the set menu which was part of the ticket deal. Very nice food and good value at London prices. Service was great in a busy room, not rushed but attentive.

this place is not a destination restaurant. the tired male toilet shield among others gives the whole place a student union feeling, but the personal is so warm and friendly that it doesn't matter. Réservez une table maintenant

the tuning of the menus on what is at the theater does not really work, i.e. a 70's based game deserves to eat 70's style.
