When I saw Matzo ball soup on the menu, I got excited. A Jewish friend introduced me to this simple, filling bowl of comfort, but there are no Jewish delis around Baton Rouge that I know of. So, on this cold, dreary day, I stopped in and ordered some to go. A short time later, I opened the container and was shocked to see Noodles and tomatoes in a broth. I did eventually find 1 1/2 very small undercooked Matzo balls under the noodles. Now I understand that everyone's Mama cooks things differently, but in my searches for recipes for Matzo ball soup, the balls are large and are not surrounded by anything other than broth. It's called Matzo ball soup for a reason. Will this deter me from trying other items on their menu? No. But I'm afraid this soup is not the bowl of comfort I was hoping for. ?
