Be careful if you have food allergies when going here. I went here two weeks ago to find out they cook Onion rings and their chicken Italiano in the same oil as fish. Who does that? Do they realize the food tastes like fish? Nor do they have signs or display that on their menu.I contacted the Heath Dept in regard to this and they don’t understand why they don’t use another fryer.Also, how this restaurant lied and said we stayed an extra hour after the complaint was made. Four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We started with MJ's nachos for our appetizer, which were excellent. They came with a side of chili, and we happily poured the chili on top. I ordered the shrimp tacos, opting for two initially and then adding a third for $3.99. They were served on a flour tortilla, and with all the toppings, they were incredibly flavorful! Each main dish was accompanied by delicious fries. One of my friends had a massive burger topped with bacon and cheese, another enjoyed a mouthwatering cheese steak, and the last person had an open-faced cheese steak. The Miller Lite drafts were a steal at $3 each and were served ice cold! I will definitely be coming back.
Great local place. Food is great, service is great and prices are very reasonable with generous portions.UPDATE: Hubby and I went for lunch. First, the place was practically empty. Our waitress, who btw is typically exceptional, got stuck breaking down a bill for a large party. We didn't get waited on for 15 minutes. Ok...no harm done until we got our Chicken Caesar salads(hardly any dressing). They were SO small. My husband had one drink which was a single malt sotch...three items...$60.00 without the tip. Absolutely ridiculous. We're done with this place, I think... not sure what happened with it. ?
Total disappointment this time. We a fans of MJs and will go back to other locations but last night in Spotswood, we sent to food back and left. Besides my wife having to fetch silverware and napkins for the table, the food was not what we expect from them. One order was completely wrong. The other was burnt to a crisp. The burger was looking like a McDonald's patty, the rolls looked like defrosted from freezer burn. A question for the food runner gave us a blank stare, not a let me find out. Skip Spotswood and pick another MJs or different restaurant. Réservez une table maintenant
I really enjoy this place; the food is great and the service is decent. However, I find it puzzling why they serve the entrees immediately after the appetizers—this seems to be a common trend. Are they trying to turn the tables quickly, or is it that they don't want me in the restaurant? The answer is as elusive as Bigfoot!
We went in tonight. The food was amazing and our waitress Samantha was wonderful and she had tons of tables and I never felt like we were neglected! She was on top of the service and ensuring we had everything we needed. Thank you Samantha you will be the reason we come back!
