Myself and a friend decided to go there for dinner on a Friday night after work. I rang up around 2:30 to find out if they took bookings. When I got through to the place, the guy who answered yelled into the phone "can I help you?!" I was slightly taken back by the very unconventional greeting, but I asked if this was the phone number for Mr Collins and the guy confirmed yes. I then asked if they took bookings for dinner, to which he replied "yes we do, how many people and what time?" I said "two people for dinner and 7pm", and he said it was fine and that he would put aside a table for us. The whole conversation was slightly rushed, yet I knew they were probably pretty busy and I had made the booking so I wasn't bothered.So my friend and I met up after work and took our time walking to Mr Collins and got there at around 6:55. There were easily plenty of tables free and mostly people having drinks and one couple eating dinner. Since we had booked I looked for our table but couldn't see any that were reserved. So my friend just sat with our stuff at a random table while I went up to the bar to find out about our booking and how to order. After waiting 5 minutes behind a group of people ordering drinks, I told the bartender that we had made a booking for 2 people at 7pm for dinner and that we didn't know whereour table was, to which the bartender told me that the kitchen closed at 7pm and since it was 7:05pm we couldn't get food.After I explained how I had booked during the day, she asked me if I had called the right number, which I told her of course since I double checked twice with the guy when I spoke to him. She then went on to ask me what time I had rang, so I said 2:30pm, and then she told that she normally takes all the bookings but at that time she had stepped out to organise some catering business so someone else took it. Which didn't really help me or my friend, because regardless of who took the booking, if the kitchen shuts at 7pm why on earth would you tell someone they can book for dinner at 7pm!I feel like most people at this point would crack it and demand free food/drinks (which is what some people told me I should have done), but I was just stunned and couldn't understand what the hell had happened! I wouldn't say that the worker apologised to me about what had happened, rather it was passed off as a 'too bad this happened to you' situation. The worker wasn't rude or anything, because to be fair it wasn't her fault, rather the guy that had confirmed my booking. I just wanted to leave this review not as a scathing one, but more as a message to management that if staff are making mistakes in really busy periods of trade, they are either not trained in multitasking or are clearly overworked. Something like this shouldn't even have happened! Which sucks because I've heard some may great reviews about Mr Collins. Unfortunately we never got to eat dinner.

I have had toasted banana bread multiple times from Mr Collins and normally it's really good. This morning I went and paid $4.50 for a slice of banana bread that was clearly cut wrong and about half the width of a normal slice. I very politely asked the person behind the counter if that was the normal slice, to which I was met with a blank stare and 'that's just what their like'. I know that's not true and to pay $4.50 for the slice was a joke. Very disappointed.

Had some good pasta for lunch with a client. Service was quick and the food quality very good. Only issue was how long it took to get our bill and pay for lunch.

Some staff here are great and some are really rude, had a Caprese salad with tuna, was bland and not nice at all, coffee was ok
