This place is on the pricier side given the portion size, but there were some standout aspects. I particularly enjoyed the use of turmeric in the ice cream. However, it leans towards classic flavors and lacks the originality that non dairy users might seek. While I didn't find it very chalky, it didn't quite have the same silkiness as other spots, notably Frankie and Jo's in Larkspur. I may not need to rush back, but it's good to have this place in my back pocket for the occasional visit on the East Bay. There are multiple locations, but I liked the Emeryville spot for the ease of parking and the other options in the dining hall.
I really can’t say how much I love Mr Dewie’s. When I decided to go vegan, after a decade as a vegetarian, the one thing I was really sad to give up was ice cream. But I’m not missing a thing. This is among the best ice creams I’ve had my whole life, dairy or not. My very favorite flavor is the Orange Chocolate Chip. This is my least favorite of the tree locations, but it’s not the ice cream’s fault! You have to walk through a market with lots of other foods cooking, which to me is less pleasant than just going to the individual ice cream shop.
I'm a woman who enjoys a creamy treat. Dairy, custards, cashews whateva, as long as it's cold, creamy and delicious. Mr.Dewie's is a delicious creamy ice cream that tantalizes my palate that happens to be vegan. The flavors are balanced and not too sweet and have interesting flavors like their turmeric and chocolate orange. I also like deluding myself into thinking is healthy because it's nut-based (I mean it's gonna be better for you than ice cream right? To you, Mr.Dewie's, I say I DEW!
Ever since I switched to a vegan diet, I never thought I would find a gelato as creamy and delicious as the ones I used to enjoy. However, Mr. Dewie's has completely exceeded my expectations! The variety of flavors is exceptional and everything I've tried so far has been amazing. My top pick at the moment is the matcha flavor.

I only tried the chocolate flavor with big cookie chunks mixed in. It was fabulous. I love an ice cream that doesn't skimp out on the mix-ins. Although I am not vegan or even vegetarian, seeing an increase in plant-based options is awesome.
The flavours were so balanced, not overly sweet. The turmeric spice was my favourite. Lovely little shop tucked away beside a restaurant; so lucky we found it. Updated from previous review on 2021-08-26
I loved it! It's fantastic to have a vegan ice cream place. The ice cream was delicious and I was thrilled to see they had gluten-free cone options. The staff member working there was really friendly.
This restaurant offers a variety of flavors that you won't find elsewhere. You can choose to enjoy a single scoop or get a whole pint. We sampled three flavors and they were all amazing!
