We stop at Mrs. McGregor's whenever we are near Pictou when traveling all the way from Indiana. We make regular excursions to Nova Scotia and have added this place on our list of must see towns and must visit food establishments. Their small, delicate, and buttery cookies are a highlight of our travels and we love to keep them in our small RV for dessert. We are partial to the regular flavor but like the maple and whiskey ones as well. The owners are super friendly and nice and they sell online too. Wonderful gifts for lovers of good, old-fashioned shortbread. Highly recommend!

What a delightful place to stop for a cup of tea and a shortbread biscuit! We had walked into Pictou from the B&B and were gasping for a cup of tea so were really pleased to find this tea room where the tea is served in a proper teapot with real china cups and saucers. We had some shortbread biscuits with the tea and liked them so much that we bought some to take back to the UK as presents. It's so nice to find somewhere a little bit different which is individual and not part of a chain. If you are in need of a cup of tea in Pictou then this is the place to go.

We stopped here because of the ratings and the advertisements we saw everywhere. The shortbread is good. I bought plain and maple, I have not tried the maple yet. We traveled here mid-September, be warned the "season" in Nova Scotia is only thru the first weekend in September. Most businesses and attractions are closed after Labor Day. Those that remain open, do so on a VERY limited basis and selling off remaining stock.NOTE: this is listed as a restaurant, I saw nothing to suggest this place is anything more than a shop.

Every time we are in Nova Scotia, we try to stop and buy some fresh shortbread from Mrs. MacGregor's shortbread shop. This time around we also decided to try the oat cakes. Both the oat cakes and the shortbread are really, really good. We even order from the states to have them delivered. Be sure to stop in and give these a try if you are near Pictou. Pictou itself is well worth your time too. Réservez une table maintenant

Mrs. MacGregor's Shortbreads was our first stop in Pictou. I had it on my list, how can you resist shortbread? We left with a supply for ourselves and for gifts plus a wonderful time conversing with the gentleman in the shop. He was willing to answer questions about Pictou and recommended a great seashore trip.

We brought shortbread home to Scotland...that's how good it was!! We only tasted the original and maple so cannot comment on the rest, but they were both amazingly good. Tempted to say the nicest we've had but may offend some family members ;)

The shortbread cookies are as wonderful as those your grandmother used to make! Fresh and buttery - you can buy a bag of traditional cookies or be adventurous and try a flavour twist like Skor or Maple. You won't be disappointed!

This business sell wonderful buttery shortbread cookies. I have tried both plain and maple flavored cookies and loved them. They are all home made. The shop is located on the main street business area in Pictou and easy to find. Réservez une table maintenant

Lots of folks rely on Trip Advisor to have up to date info but in Pictou that is not the caee. If you are going to Mary's then closed Sun and Mon then just a few other hours.
