We had heard about this place through friends and despite having already eaten, still decided to take out some of our favourite East African appetizers as a midnight snack. As the previous reviewer mentioned, we too could not see any indication of the restaurant from the street and were wondering if we were in the wrong place. The exterior looks a little run down, next to a garage/mechanic and another small restaurant. We were there on a Friday night around 10pm and the place was buzzing with more people coming in! The flame-grilled chicken leg and thigh portion was quite substantial. It had a nice kick of spice and was quite tasty, with just a hint of sourness, less than the ribs. The peri fries had a wet spice masala, while the masala fries had a dry, Indian-African spice mix. I chose the masala fries, which were mostly crispy with a sour and spicy flavor. The mogo (cassava) fries were okay but rather starchy and not very crispy. The salad featured cabbage instead of the usual lettuce, which was a refreshing change, though it could have used more dressing. Service was pretty good overall.
1. The sirloin mishkaki was incredibly tender and full of flavor, cooked to perfection, and served with a tangy sauce on the side. 2. The cheeseburger was juicy with a wonderfully soft interior. 3. The peri fries were decent; I thought they could use a bit more seasoning, but they were still good. 4. The poutine, with its rich gravy and cheese curds, was both satisfying and flavorful. I wanted to try the short ribs, but unfortunately, they had run out. Overall, I highly recommend this place!
