I ordered the mocha chip ice cream, expecting it to be a coffee flavor with chocolate chips. To my delight, I discovered that the chocolate chips were actually the frozen liquid chips that Baskin Robbins Thrifty uses (if you know, you know). I'm originally from the West Coast and haven’t found any ice cream in Boston that uses those chips! While the mocha flavor wasn't very strong and I would have liked a bit more intensity, the chocolate chips really compensated for it. I would rate the ice cream a 4 out of 5, but it is definitely on the pricey side! We like to stop in here when we are in the Cambridge area! The flavors do rotate and change, but no fret, if your favorite flavor is gone, they have a something else you can probably find that you like. They do allow tasting, so just ask one of the staff members if you can sample a flavor before you make your choice. Once we figure out which flavors we like we usually get a half pint of each and bring it home or eat it in the car. There are a few cafe style tables near the front of the shop and outdoor area you can also find a seat and enjoy the ice cream. The parking is meter parking and we've been lucky to usually find a spot somewhere out front after 1-2 rounds around the block.

I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious this dish was! It featured rich flavors with a creamy yet light texture that made it easy to enjoy large portions without feeling overwhelmed. The sweetness was perfectly balanced, and I appreciated how it melted slowly, allowing me to savor every bite. The baklava flavor was absolutely incredible—so unique and genuinely reminiscent of real baklava. Even the vanilla flavor was impressive, made with fresh vanilla. However, I believe the prices and portion sizes could use some improvement.
I heard that New City Microcreamery was pretty highly rated, so we came to check it out. Upon entering, I enjoyed the vibe of the store. The menu was pretty extensive as they offer not only ice cream scoops, but drinks such as coffee too. I liked the variety of flavors that they offered they have some flavors that are seasonal. We were able to sample some flavors before making a decision. I felt like the texture was a little off, kind of like it had an icy consistency rather than creamy. Regardless, I liked the flavors we got, and I would come back to try some of the other flavors or menu items.

This is the best ice cream shop in Central Square! I used to enjoy Toscanini's as well, but I decided to boycott it after the owner filed a lawsuit against Cambridge to remove bike lanes. I absolutely love their cake batter ice cream—it's spot on! It really tastes like actual cake batter; my partner joked that it even has a hint of raw flour flavor, and he’s right. Plus, it comes generously topped with sprinkles. Their seasonal tres leches ice cream is also amazing. You truly can't go wrong here! They even have a vegan cookies and cream flavor that my vegan friends love.

I had a disappointing experience yesterday. I ordered two scoops of ice cream, but the clerk only gave me two kiddie scoops while still charging me the price of two full scoops. On top of that, I requested the chocolate almond croissant flavor but only received the regular chocolate flavor.
I was really disappointed with my experience here. We paid $14 for two single scoops, and they were extremely small—essentially, the server only filled half of the small cup. Given the price, this was quite disappointing. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.

The flavors were fantastic, and there were some fun topping options. I tried the tres leches from their seasonal menu topped with tutti frutti. It's quite rich, so I believe one scoop is more than enough. Overall, it was excellent!
This place would definitely win first places in customer service rudeness and unfriendliness. Prices are very high and ice cream is overly sweet.
