I wanted to write this review because I have eaten at Non La numerous times and the food seems more delicious every time The service is also very friendly. The food is always good and the prices are reasonable You can BYO too Last night I was told that the new owner is planning to rename the restaurant Andaqua and tweak the menu by adding even more genuine and traditional Vietnamese dishes I look forward to going back for those and the old favourites like the lemongrass dishes and the fried fish with tamarind and chili sauce.I usually visit on a weeknight and it would be nice if more patrons would do so to help keep our good neighbourhood restaurants open.
We had dinner here a while ago. It had a very classy decor for a Vietnamese restaurant with predominantly white interior. Food itself was ok, we had one chicken and one beef stir fry, you can't really go wrong with that. We only found out it was BYO after we ordered, so I rushed to the Crickets Arms and got a bottle of wine from there. The total cost for two is around $50 plus BYO wine. I say that counts as a cheap and cheerful night out.

A change of Ownership and Decor brings in some much needed changes to an institution in Surry Hills. Northern Vietnamese specials including a very good Soft Shell Crab have been added to the predominantly Southern Vietnamese menu. Almost all the old favorites remain, for winter the clay pot fish and clay pot pork are warm and comforting. Ordonné de sortir à partir de là le samedi soir et demandé sans gluten pour certains repas. Malheureusement, après avoir consommé le repas, j'ai été malade pendant 2 jours avec mes symptômes habituels après avoir mangé du gluten. De plus, la nourriture n'a pas été très impressionnante et péputée vietnamienne à proximité est beaucoup plus fraîche et plus savoureuse. Ne recommanderait pas ce restaurant.
Ordered take out from here on Saturday night and requested Gluten free for certain meals. Unfortunately, after consuming the meal I've been sick for 2 days with my usual symptoms after eating gluten. Also the food overall wasn't that impressive, phamish Vietnamese close by is much fresher and tastier. Would not recommend this restaurant.
We had a lovely evening there last Saturday. The service was good and as we were upstairs it was very quiet. The pancake was delicious as was the caramelised pork. The beef with vegetables was not quite so good. Will try something different next time we go. Reasonably priced.
This is my second time at Non La, which I always think is better to write a review: at least it doesn't reflect my mood of the day!
