My wife and I were in the neighborhood and based on reviews decided to try Northern Cafe for lunch. We were a bit disappointed, though in retrospect I can 't help thinking that we misordered. Or perhaps didn 't understand the Chinese Cuisine we were getting ourselves into. The Juicy Pork dumplings were very, very good. Not really a soup dumpling but just Juicy and this allowed the wrapper to be much thinner and tastier. They were the star of our meal. The Green Onion pancake was really well prepared with good mouth feel and flavor...but had no where near enough Green Onions inside. But most disappointing was the Beef Noodle Soup. The noodles were wonderful with great taste and 'tooth '...but...
My parents came here to eat multiple times and told me this place had good food, so we came here together for dinner. They have a good amount of tables and 3 private rooms. We were seated fast since it wasn't that full inside.We ended up ordering the lamb soup, thick green onion pancakes, duck, sauteed green beans, and pork dry tofu. They were served in around 10 minutes, not too long. The duck didn't really match my tastes but my parents enjoyed it. As for the green beans and dry tofu, both were too salty and I had to eat it with rice to stomach it. I guess people with heavier taste buds would not have a problem with those. If you are looking for authentic Northern Chinese cuisine, this place should be on your list. The vegetables are fresh and starch dishes are outstanding in both taste and texture.Dine in is much better than take out as the food is done just right. There are private VIP room sitting options to consider as well.
Don’t come here unless you have a big party or you’ll be completely ignored for 30 minutes. Ridiculous. Food came out after more than half an hour for a noodle dish?! All you have to do is cook the noodles and add the soup. Food isn’t even good. TRASH. Réservez une table maintenant
