The Derby - Réservation de table

Getting old like The Derby) is not for gastronomists. If they haven’t nailed it after 102 years dine elsewhere it’s a short drive to The Del Rae. Where surliness is never served. I found the service marginal overwhelmed servers and short tempered bartenders and a hit or miss in dining. The French onion soup was light, tasty and not too cheesy the bacon wrap filet mignon too rare too grainy. Yes The Derby is old. But it is not good. Nice to visit reservations are not maintained and the waiting game is a crowd with no where to stand .

Food and service were excellent. The wife and I got the “Triple Crown” both with Prime Rib. It was a great value for a tender, juicy Prime Rib, starter, and desert. I was stuffed and still have my desert in the fridge. The Brussels Sprout start was a pleasant dish with great salt, umami, and crunch balance. Patio seating was ideal during Covid, with Mister Fans keeping everyone cool. My minor critic was it was a little loud to have a good conversation; background music was a bit much. Overall we loved this place and will be back

The food was good. Steak was good but not great. The sides potatoes and macaroni and cheese were excellent. My lemon drop martini was perfect. The waitress, older lady was a little rude when I asked if they had any specials she relied if they did it would have been on a separate paper and pointed to the menu and told me to look at it. I was shocked. Her attitude kind of sucked for such a fine restaurant that I paid $200 for two people.

The food was great and Heather was an excellent server. My only complaint is that I didn’t get Open Table points. I didn’t see anything about not being eligible in the original reservation, the request for confirmation, or the reminder. I contacted The Derby and it’s their understanding that points are eligible and given but that it’s an Open Table issue. Please explain and award my points. Réservez une table maintenant

The Prime Rib was the Best! It’s been years since I’ve had a delicious Slow cooked delicious n Tender Prime Rib. Our Server Chelsea was Excellent Barbara also!! and was very fun and kind to my Dad on his 90 th Bday Spence the Manager made everything Perfect

Food was good. Garlic cheese bread was very heavy in the garlic and lacked the cheese, was disappointed as two slices seemed over cooked. Steak was excellent as was the creamed corn and creamed spinach. Good dining experience

The place was very busy but it took a while to order. Our server was running around a lot. I got the triple crown meal
