we were in the last few months twice in la scala. the bar area is busy and they now serve in the bar. the dining room is dated and has an acidic smell. we ate in the dining room. our server was very good, but eating was just okay. the first time I had manicotti, this is my usual one. it was good, but it seemed to be missing. my man had veal roberto, his usual. I noticed that the garnels were smaller than before. this time I had veal marsala. It was okay, not great. the calfs is cut pieces and therefore a bit tough. he had the same kalb roberto and the garnel were still small. which was very surprising, the paste proportion was half as large as before. maybe 3 bites pasta. before it was a good size. the portion sizes are smaller, the drinks are smaller, but the prices remain the same. we might be looking for a new visit to randolph.
in a recent trip to boston ; this Italian restaurant does not need a pot card as it is located 30 minutes outside the city. family operation with large bar area with several tvs. the heavy fish was phenomenal taste and moistur. veal chiff was also great and a generous portion size. great selection of beer, wee and other spirits. the taste of the garnelen scampi was quite tasteful. I loved the tiramisu and the mascarpone and espresso flavor was excellent. the next visit in the opposite of boston who visits our son on the college will be a main visit. they bring cash, as no credit cards are accepted. the prices are very reasonable giving what they eat and function cash only place. the owner michael was quite hospitable and pleasant.
we love la scala and we honestly never have a sub par meal. everything is always fabulous and also great cocktails. we were together with another couple last Friday, and my husband and one of our friends had the heavy fish they both overwhelmed. so fresh and generous. this is the third time that I ordered the aubergineparm as I had eaten less meat. I can't exaggerate how fabulous it is and I find auberginen parm rare fabulous. it can often be mad or hard, but la scala has it perfectly down. to do this dish is a product for fine Italian cuisine. sliced thin, texture is fabulous, never mad or hard, just perfect! fabulous Italian desserts also. never disappointed here!
