O'connell's Pub

5 stars in every category. I 've been eating at O 'Connell 's since the Gaslight Sq. days right next to Your Father 's Mustache where I worked. Must reply to whoever said the takeout was unacceptable. A few years (pre covid) I tried to get takeout for my wife who was at Barnes Hosp. Takeout wasn 't available. So Iordered two of whatever she wanted and wrapped up the left overs . They were still good.

OConnells Pub is definitely a throwback to a different time. Dim lighting, dark heavy wood, and leather decor. Menu features pub food appetizers, burgers, huge portions of fish with fries. Burgers come with lettuce, no tomatoes (they don't serve them). The slaw lacked flavor. It is cabbage with vinegar dressing. Overall, it was a meal, not horrible, not great. Just a meal.

I was disappointed. So dark. Uncomfortable seats and benches. And my medium well burger was too well done. I could change how I order next time but they don’t even have tomatoes or pickle slices to put on the burger. The house salad was almost all pepperoni (or some sausage slices) and a little lettuce. Dressing was good.

Can't beat the atmosphere of this classic Irish pub. Friendly service, dependable food, good people. Everything you need.

Very good cheeseburger and fries but they have no tomatoes for the burgers.
