I recently dined at Old Mandarin with my wife, expecting a pleasant evening filled with authentic Chinese cuisine. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired and was marred by an unwelcoming atmosphere, small portions, and a sense of being rushed.Upon entering the restaurant, we couldn't help but notice the owner's intimidating presence. Can't believe we discovered this place! Yes, the place was a little noisy (kitchen is right behind the dining area), our server wasnt the friendliest, but the food was finger licking good!!!! Thats how I always know for a fact that we're going to get something super authentic and not Americanized! We ordered the Schezwan chicken, garlic sauce eggplant and cumin lamb. We inhaled the food in seconds and even considered going for second servings. Not giving 5 stars because they were charging us 2$ for like half a cup of rice. As an Asian, that almost feels like highway robbery but we were willing to pay up because the food was just that good!
I've been wanting to go here a while and I was glad to have finally gone.All meat is halal, I'm unclear if they serve alcohol (my assumption was no) but I saw a corkage charge on the menu.Items ordered1. Egg rolls2. Chicken and corn soup3. Cumin spicy chicken4. Chowmein5. Mixed vegetables6. DumplingsEverything tasted fantastic and I'd absolutely recommend the place. Be sure to ask for the chilli oil. It's definitely on the pricier side and I'm assuming that's because items are halal but I'm not sure. It cost us $40 a person.
The beef was really good, as was the soup. The pot stickers were just that I guess. The chow mein was good but the prawns were below average (the dish didn't do much for me. Left most of it and ate the prawns haha). The guy at the counter was rudish/in a hurry when we arrived (8.20pm) but then grew warm as we sat and ate.

Had some good dishes and some that were ok. I really liked the Mongolian lamb and the pancake. The eggplant was a little chewy and the stir fried beef was a little under salted but nice family owned restaurant with quick service and pretty decent food. Come try this local place out if you haven’t already
This is the best Chinese restaurant I've ever tested in USA. The beef and noodles are very tasty ! I have no words to describe how dumplings are good ! I recommend you to come and eat in this restaurant ! And this is 100% halal !
Amazing food! We orders probably like 10+ dishes and everything was delicious. My only complaint is that each dish was almost $20 and the portion size was very small. But quality over quantity so its worth it.
Very good taste. We had hotpot, the lamb is delicious but only 7 pieces per plate. The last we had fried Chinese mochi. That is the best mochi I ever had. There is long line for table and take out.

Good food with good service. Always enjoy their yellow chicken curry. The food is fresh and so yummy.
