This restaurant review is for the Old Schoolhouse Tearoom located in Wester Ross. It is considered one of the best attractions in the area with a warm and genuine welcome from the volunteers. The volunteers, including a lady from Ayr and Jane from New Zealand, were very informative about the community venue's background. The tearoom aims to provide a gathering place for locals and visitors, offering outstanding baked goods such as coffee cake, lemon drizzle cake, and victoria sponge. They also serve ground coffee in a cafetiere, which encourages visitors to donate according to the quality of the food. The exhibitions in the tearoom showcase the history of the school and the area, providing v...

I discovered this café online and learned that it is open on Wednesday afternoons. When we arrived, we found a group of women crafting and chatting. We were quickly offered tea and cakes. My husband enjoyed talking to the locals, as his father used to work in the area 70 years ago. The old school house has been modernized and now has a newly fitted kitchen. While it is not officially open yet due to a shortage of volunteers, there is a drop-in session for locals on Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 4 pm.

The tea room is a former local school that no longer has enough pupils to keep it open. It has been bought by a community based group to promote and sustain the local community. My wife and i called in for afternoon tea on Wednesday 21st August 2019 and received a warm, friendly and genuine welcome. To say that we enjoyed the experience would be an understatement. The cafe is open for afternoon teas on Wednesday and Friday from 2.00 pm till 4.30 pm. Go there you won't be disappointed.

We remember when this was a school and it’s great to see that the building is being used and not just allowed to decay. A lot of effort has gone into the displays and information in the rooms leading to the tea room. The tea room is almost a little memory of the past with ladies in their pinnies and a display of home made cakes to die for. A lovely stop off on the road from Poolewe to Cove. Great hot cup of tea with tea pot and a slice of yummy cake. Réservez une table maintenant

Located just off Route 500, this restaurant is definitely worth a small detour. Housed in an old school building, diners can currently enjoy their coffee outside due to COVID restrictions. This establishment serves the best coffee and shortbread I have had in Scotland. Be sure to give it a try.

We stopped by for takeaway teas and cakes and the cakes were delicious. The two ladies serving were very friendly and cheery and were happy to chat for a while. It's a shame it's not open a bit more often we'd definitely have gone more during our 2 week holiday if it was open more.

Open on Wednesday and Friday afternoons during the tourist season this cafe serves a selection of home made cakes and pastries. The very friendly volunteers who run the cafe are delighted to answer questions about the local area. There is a very interesting local history display.

We drove up to the magnificent Firemore beach to walk the dog and then drove back down the road to the old Inverasdale school now run by volunteers with a cafe on Weds and Friday afternoon for some lovely tea and cake and interesting displays/ history and good company.
