I wondered if I was in the wrong restaurant! I booked online after reading an article by the Old Success Inn saying it had been refurbished and had an al la carte menu. Instead we were shown to a table in the bar and when we looked at the menu it was the usual standard boring fare you find everywhere these days -fish and chips, burger or curry! I couldnt see a single thing I wanted on the menu so had to settle for scampi and chips which I could have cooked at home for a quarter of the price. My husband ordered a starter which he found inedible . Then we waited 45 minutes for our main coursse when everybody who had come in after us had been served! Good varied menu and the specials and starters were particularly good amazing arancini and really good soup : . Plenty of gluten free choices and the staff were knowledgeable about what was and wasn't gluten free. It could be even better if they labelled the GF options on the menu, and if they had a gluten free ale available
There was a new menu but really very mediocre for all that. My wife had the soup of the day that tasted of food additives and my mackerel pate whilst fine was accompanied by rock hard toasted sourdough bread with butter I had to ask for. The staff were very nice and the setting is as always wonderful.
I celebrated a friend's birthday here along with 3 other friends on Tuesday. We were lucky with the weather and sat outside overlooking the sea. We all ate different mains and desserts from the comprehensive menu. All the food was delicious and the service was very efficient and friendly.

Made very welcome on arrival and soon selected both drinks and food. Food was delicious, well presented and hot.it has been many years since we have visited this pub and delighted it still delivers.
Such an amazing location for a pub! Last visited The old Success 20 years ago. I'm glad to say It hasn't changed. Still a lovely traditional British pub. Good food, drinks and wonderful views!
We had a wonderful evening and the food was not only fantastic but reasonably priced as well. The wine was also good at a great price. All round a must visit.
Great staff, great food, great location, great wine. What more could you want! Disabled friendly too. So nice! Must book a table!
