Wednesday evening 23rd November we were spending the evening in Camberley. After a walkabout we decided we would have dinner, so we made a reservation for later in the evening. From the street the exterior of the building was rather enchanting with is old wooden door and square window frames. Through the window we could see a gas fire blazing in a large stone fire place. Definitely has character. On arrival, at our booked time, we were shown to our table, we were informed that it was by a radiator, just as well as it was a bit chilly. We were given the drinks and food menus. Once we had decided we ordered a Thai Green Curry, chicken and a Weeping Tiger beef, rice was included with the meal....

Appalling, not much else I can say. We went for mums birthday, a party of, no atmosphere and a very empty restaurant. From the second we walked in, something didn’t feel right. We have been here many many times over the years and it has always been fantastic. Sadly it’s a shadow of its former self. From the flat gin and tonic, to the slow service. One waitress on the floor, 3 table in the place. Our starters were tepid, the mixed house starter was ok, tiny fish cake though, Oran toast was ok and the money bag and filo wrapped prawns were barely warm and not crisp, they tasted like they’d been sat under hot lights for a while. I might add the service was very slow, nearly an hour before we re...

We ordered a take away the past weekend. We drove 25 minutes to get there and another 20 mins back, because we liked it so much the last few times we ordered from them. When we got home we were very unhappy to find that there was hardly any green curry in the container. Looked like less than a quarter container of food. The masamam curry was awful. It was tasteless, full of water and inedible. Lets not forget the thai starter for 2. A fish cake the size of a 2 pound coin 1 of each. For two people? No ways! When I called, the manager was extremely rude. His response was that he is not a chef and there is nothing he can do. He began raising his voice asking me what do i want what do i want wit...

We had looked at this restaurant in passing for some time. My wife had used it in the past and said it was nice so we tried it. First impressions were of a dated restaurant which could be better. No table cloths and tired looking plates and cutlery. The waiter was seemingly not interested in what he was doing and clearly wanted to be elsewhere. Then the food came, it wasn't great. In fact it was pretty average at best. certainly not worth the price. Apparently there is such a thing as too quick service. Two courses were rushed out in just over half and hour leaving us feeling like we didn't have the chance to enjoy our meal. It's a a shame as there aren't many independent restaurants left in... Whist this restaurant is not in the main shopping area it is well worth the 5 minute walk for its excellent food. The interior is designed in traditional Thai style with lots of wood and artefacts to creat a full experience. The tables are simple but with beautiful fresh orchid set on folded banana leaf. The food is true Thai authentic with its classical dishes on a full menu. We had a sharing platter to start that was so good we ordered another so that we didn't argue over the last wrapped prawn or spring roll. The crispy fish was well prepared and presented and the red curry was spicy but not too firey. All in all an excellent meal and a reminder of visits to Thailand.

For my first eat in since lockdown I’ ve decided to go back to Old Thai House, missed this place for over a year. The restaurant look brighter and the new menu is a present to taste Thailand on Camberley doorstep, as always the dishes were very hot and very very delicious. Will go back soon.

The smell of old cooking oil greets you as you enter. We shared starter platters, all deep fried. The food was poor, curries like soup and lacking flavours and oomph. Pad Thai, dreadful, lots of fried bits. We were 5 and all very disappointed.

Eat here quite regularly, and tonight's visit was every bit as good as usual. Good ambiance, tasty food, and more than adequate portions. Will be back again in future.
