We've been here a couple of times for lunch...the steak sandwich was highly recommended by friends. I don't normally order steak anywhere as I'm never happy with the result, but this sandwich, although plain looking, packed a whole lot of grill flavour. The sweet potato fries were excellent. My companions also loved their food. Even though only one server was on duty for the whole place, we had no complaints about the quality or promptness of service. Definitely will return. Great pub atmosphere and a busy place at lunch even on a Monday. Question: Why does this listing on Trip Advisor not show a photograph of the restaurant? I had trouble finding it to review.
Went here for the first time on the recommendation of a friend and wasn't too impressed. Had fish and chips and it was okay, nothing spectacular. If you're a regular, service is great but, for first timers, not so much. Very slow and inattentive (actually had to go up to get our own cutlery and condiments). We went at 2:15 on a Friday afternoon and the bar area had quite a few (what appeared to be) regulars and the 1 waitress/bartender was socializing and devoting most of her time to them. Perhaps the owner should have had another server scheduled to take care of the few tables that had customers at them?
This pub has the best food due to the awesome chef. It is our go to place when we want a good meal and a reasonable price. The Guinness is a good pour. Our favourite appetizer by far is the curry fries, yummy chicken curry on chunky fries. This can be a meal due to the size. The special fish dishes are always satisfying to the taste buds. My meat eating husband loves the steak sandwich and the prime rib. Every meal here is good. They even offer a half price wine night. The atmosphere is very British and very welcoming. The staff is great. Al has done a great job with this Pub.
I think many people have been surprised by this place when other Main Street restaurants don't have room.It has an authentic pub feel with over a dozen different beers on tap. Plenty of big screen TVs if you just want to watch the game. The servers are friendly and there's live music regularly.There are lots of dinner specials and the regular menu has a wide variety including traditional pub choices like shepherds pie, bangers and mash, fish and chips.I had the steak sandwich which was cooked just as I had asked for.Definitely a good alternative on Main Street.

My husband and I used to go here at least once a week. Food was always surprisingly good, service friendly and prices reasonable. Then the food started slipping. Was t prepared with as much care. Once my husband got about 12 French fries with his fish and chips. When he asked the waitress if he could have a few more, she brought another 12. Salads used to be amazing, then became a bowl of lettuce. When they changed the menu it got worse. Veggie Burger is a joke. We eventually just stopped going.
I had not been to Newmarket for a while and made the mistake of choosing olde village to have dinner. The service was slow and the so called manager-only waitress was rude. Then came dinner. We did not have to look around for our salmon entrée we could smell it coming. They served us fish that was so bad it would have been impossible for them to not have known how sickening it was. The server-manager was indifferent to the attempted assault. Very, very, very bad. This place should be shut down!
Went out for dinner with my wife and didn't make a reservation at a restaurant close by. Was told there was a 45 minute wait, so walked up and down Main Street. Found the Olde Village. They had room so we went in. Friendly staff and great chicken curry made for a lovely night out.
I went to this restaurant with my family for an early dinner yesterday and had a great time. We liked the ambiance, beer selection, and the food. The restaurant was clean, the service was good, and everyone enjoyed their meals. We will definitely be coming back again!

This place is amazing! Whether you are coming in for lunch or dinner (the food is impeccable) or just a casual drink, you won't be disappointed. Staff always very friendly and make you feel welcomed right away.
I love knowing what I'm getting every time I visit. Service is prompt and courteous. Always have live music when I've gone. Food is consistently good.
