We went to the Oppidan dining room on New Years Day as it has been a family tradition. The experience was very disapppointing, the food was mediocre at best.I realize the hotel is under new management and may not be aware of the history of this dining room. The Oppidan was formerly know as the Cabot Club, and was one of the more eleqant dining places to eat, today the only remnants of better days are the white table clothes. The quality of the food was desperate , ribs were very fatty, and the strip loin steaks very thin and over done. A group of 14 of us went to Oppidan. When we arrived the door to the restaurant was locked. We found someone who went for the key and opened the door. We were then advised they needed our license plate number to prevent our vehicle being booted. Had to go out to the car as I could not remember part of it. When the reservation was made we should have been told this as most of us had not been there in over a year.We were the first in the restaurant but the last served. It took over an hour for appetizers and about the same for mains. Food was average at best. This is a fine establishment. We had a party of 20 (including 5 children) with many food allergies and sensitivities. The catering/event staff were fantastic. They did not hesitate to accomodate our special needs. They allowed us to put up a few decorations and catered to our every whim. My only complaint was the wine/alcohol was very expensive(to be expected in finer dining). In the end, we had a very happy birthday girl and a delicious meal.
We ate here twice on our recent visit and the level of service was not the same. One night the waiter was prompt, informative and told us about the specials. The next night getting seated and we were not told about any specials. The female wait staff busted their butts making up for the lack of attention to the customers while the men at times were invisible. The food was excellent, service not so much.

We stayed at this hotel and the food in the dining room is excellent. Serving staff are efficient and very friendly. They make you feel at home and they make great suggestions. They added to our wonderful visit to St John's.
Located in the Sheraton, this restaurant offers many seafood as well as regular fare. Although slightly overpriced for what you get, the food is good. The wine list is extensive but at the same time very overpriced.
Very good coffee. Very nice server. Very expensive for ho hum breakfast. The redeeming quality of this restaurant is the staff. Their smiles and attitude took the sting out of the bill.
We enjoyed our meal. I had salmon, my husband had the special, salmon and cod. Nice presentation, very tasty. The view was nice, and our server was very friendly and attentive.

Great atmosphere, excellent service, and marvelous food for seafood lovers. Only problem is that there's just so much!
