Looking for somewhere for dinner in Wellington. After rejecting about 3 places because of ridiculously high prices in one, pretentious decor in another, a restricted 'night menu' in another, and one that rejected us (it was full)........we stumbled into the Orchard Drive Dari Bar. It does seem that this is where the 'real' Wellingtonians go. Very friendly and down to earth staff, bright cafeteria style lighting, and a varied and reasonably cheap menu. Started with the soup of the day.......a delicious Turkey with Wild Rice for only 3.75. Then an appetizer of coconut shrimps......and while the shrimps themselves weren't gourmet, the whole dish was quite tasty. I had a Greek Burger with onion...
This is a convenient diner along Hwy 33 in Wellington, across from the water. The service was quite nice, which is always appreciated. Place was spotlessly clean. I like the picnic tables outside for those wishing to eat outdoors (perfect for anyone travelling with a dog!).We had fish and chips and a Greek salad--the home fries were really tasty, although for $10, the 1-filet of fish was quite small, so that was a bit of a let-down. The salad was great, fresh and yummy, although a tiny bit less oil would have made it perfect.Also had the soft ice cream...of course, who could possibly complain about ice cream!? Only thing is that it was pretty expensive for ice cream, although I suspect that...
The food was decent, nothing special but acceptable. We ordered pizza, which was hot and fresh. However, I am only giving this restaurant 1 star because of the extremely grumpy older woman with glasses who works there, or possibly owns it - I am not sure, and frankly, I don't care. Customer service is crucial when customers are spending their money at your establishment, and it is important to be friendly towards those you are serving. I will not be returning to this restaurant. My advice would be to lighten up, as a positive attitude goes a long way.
The food was average and nothing special, but it was decent. We ordered the pizza which was served hot and fresh. However, I am giving this restaurant 1 star due to the very grumpy older lady with glasses who works there or possibly owns it. Customer service is crucial when customers are spending their money, and when they are being friendly in return. I will not be returning to this establishment. My advice to them is to cheer up, as it can make a big difference. Réservez une table maintenant
