Located in a hidden corner of Sydney, Osaka Bar has recently reopened as an Omakase restaurant rather than its previous terrace dining setup. The dining experience at this cozy spot is intimate and personalized, giving off a nostalgic Japan vacation vibe. The restaurant is managed solely by the head chef and his wife, who are both warm and attentive to their small clientele of just 5 seats. I highly recommend trying the 12-piece sushi set course, which includes seasonal ingredients selected by the chef. During our visit, we enjoyed dishes like fatty tuna, salmon, grass-fed beef, and more (although I can't recall all of them). Before each dish is served, the chef provides a description, enhan...

A very unique Omakase experience in Sydney. This restaurant only has room for 5 people, making the dining experience and atmosphere very charming and intimate. We made a booking of 4 (2 couples) and had the whole experience to ourselves. You have the option to...continue from 8 pieces of nigiri to continue to 12 pieces and finally through to 16 pieces as you go. They also have a great selection of Japanese alcohol. The nigiri is absolutely delicious as you are instructed to pick up the nigiri with your hand and eat the piece whole. The host and chef are highly skilled and prepare each round perfectly with a great sense of humour. You will definitely have fun here.
Omakase shimasu. I must say, this set up reminds me my experience in Osaka. Typical 5-8 setup, very warm and dedicated food experience that one can enjoy alone, or with small group. Guided by one of the best Sushi Chef Kazu. Funny and expert in his sushi creations. Each delicacy matched with flavoursome Sake that compliments each and every bite. 8pcs and then extended to 12pcs sushi bonanza. 3 different Sake. It was an experience for a King. The experience is not just the food. It’s like meeting an old friend you haven’t seen in years.
The food here was excellent--we had salmon sushi, hand rolls, and tried a Japanese specialty, a sort of Japanese pancake omelet thing, called Okonomiaki. Very nice! Wish we'd been in Sydney longer to try more Japanese specialties that are probably hard to find outside of Japan. One other great thing about this place is its location in an alley in Kings Cross. It's filled with open-air eateries, colorful lights, and has such a festive atmosphere! Highly recommend this place for food, service, and atmosphere. Réservez une table maintenant
This “hole in the wall” restaurant only sits a maximum of six people per sitting...and only serves an “omakase” style menu (leaving it to the Chef to serve up the dishes). For a truly authentic omakase experience buckle up for a culinary experience with the freshest seafood and creative sushi/sashimi experience with Chef Kazu Nakatani. Not only does he serves some of the best sushi/sashimi in Sydney, he also has a small but truly excellent sake selection for the connoisseurs.
Sushi to die for. Upon arrival, the waitress kindly explained how the menu works. We ordered the omakase and each piece is an artwork itself the ingredients matched with the perfectly crafted sauces. Each bite is an exciting experience. They have a nice selection of sake, and you can ask for recommendations based on your sweetness/dryness preference. Highly recommended :
I visited this place twice already and it has been truly wonderful every time. This small restaurant only has 5 seats so booking is a must. The chef is trained in Japan (and also Japanese of course) and his skill is divine. The place ticks...all the boxes service, taste, quality, and atmosphere. It is also very reasonably priced! This is a hidden gem in Sydney!
I highly recommend this restaurant! After trying the omakase at Osaka bar, I don't think I can go back to regular sushi again. The ingredients were fresh and the service was excellent. It was a fantastic experience and I'm happy I chose this place to celebrate my new job offer! I will definitely be returning for more! Réservez une table maintenant
I recently tried omakase for the first time and it exceeded my expectations! The intimate restaurant is owned by a charming husband and wife team. The food was absolutely delicious, the ambiance was perfect, and the service was top-notch.
An amazing sushi experience with beautifully presented, fresh, artfully and tasty sushi pieces. Fun night out with delicious sushi, an entertaining and welcoming sushi chef will definitely be back!
