Quite an extensive menu for breakfast and lunch. We sat in the room at the back - and were clearly forgotten by the wait staff. Incredibly slow service which was highlighted by one of us getting up to refill wine glasses - twice. I don't eat out to serve my guests.The food was fancy and well presented but nothing was out of the ordinary. I thought the veal cutlet at $35 should have been accompanied by more than the ubiquitous rocket & parmesan salad with a few pine nuts and a tomato cut in half topped with fontina cheese (in this instance there was not any noticeable nutty flavour to the cheese). Mine meat was on the rare side of 'medium-rare'.The sardines on the other hand were golden fried...
We attended a birthday function in the private room of this suburban Italian restaurant. Even though there were about 80 people there, the room was large enough that one could actually get out between the tables!The food was a set menu featuring a selection of Italian antipasti (mini bruschetta with various toppings, calamari, carpaccio), then three different mains (steak, fish and duck breast), followed by birthday cake.Absolutely everything was delicious and very well cooked. Impressively, everyone was served at the same time and we didn't have to sit and wait for our neighbour to receive their course.We wouldn't hesitate to go back there again - do give it a try!
Were led to a table at rear of restaurant behind large pillar. Not offered water or bread. Could not order until "master waiter" visited our table. After three requests eventually stood up in his way so we could place our order. Many specials but two standards on the menu "not available" (no cannelloni at an Italian restaurant?). Sparkling mineral water was cold but the two glasses of white wine ordered warm. Side dishes served perhaps 5-10 minutes after main course even though one was a salad. Food generally good although many dishes have garlic. Many staff and generally friendly, but it seems only one person could discuss the food and take orders.
We booked a table for 2 for evening of Sunday 13 August 2017. Parking was plentiful nearby. Table was near a door with some cold air drifting in - quite bearable. Restaurant was less than half-full. Service was good. Some Pasta dishes were unavailable. We first chose an entrée and that was quite good but lacked some finesse. Main dish: pasta each and that was very average. Dessert: some were unavailable. Our choice proved quite good. Overall impression: expensive, good service, average food (many dishes unavailable) and below-average value for money.

My friend booked this restaurant the service was pleasant , I ordered their special fettuccini with vongole it was ok no wow factor it was $33.00, the others had pork and veal they like it the prices here are quite high, the small cannoli where ok the tiramisu didn't lift me it was bland. The disappointment was when my friend checked on line their on line menu did not match with the menu at the restaurant and a few things where missing and not available on the night.This place is too expensive for just ok food.
We had lunch here after attending the Hunters Hill Art Show. The staff were pleasant and the surrounds are great but I feel the food was rather overpriced for what was at best, nothing too special.I'm glad we ate here if only to remember to drive a little further down the peninsula if we intend to dine in the area again. I can't say the food was bad, for $28 to $33 a main I would've liked just a little bit more in the way of flavour or something that it lacked.
Try and get to Ottimo's a few times a year ,we are not local but well worth the drive, excellent italian food , great atmosphere inside and out in courtyard, very nice staff, one of my favorite italian restaurants
Excellent range of quality Italian style meals in a leafy location with indoor or outdoor dining. Good for romantic dinners or group celebrations.
