Paffgen Bierhaus - Réserver une table

on a recent visit to Cologne, my friend and I were searching for somewhere to have dinner before attending the football match that night. We stumbled across this place whilst checking out the area. The bar restaurant area is quite big, and typically German. The beer was good, as was the food, and our waiter was a bit of a card. the bar is obviously very popular, as evidenced by the number of people eating and drinking. We both enjoyed the occasion, and I am absolutely certain that you would too. Well worth a visit.

One of the most rude places I have ever been. Employees shouting at each other, trying to order a drink for ages without them taking an order and ignoring you for atleast 15 minutes (even while walking past you several times), plates of food practically being slammed down on your table and they don't make you feel welcome at all. If I want to get treated like poorly as a customer I would go to a Karen's diner.

Bad service, picture says it all. Ordered a schnitzel and my friend a currywurst. The currywurst got served and 10 minutes later the waiter told us the schnitzel wasn’t available anymore. Got no compensation or a apology for not getting any food. The photo was taken just before the waiter came to tell us that my order wasn’t available.

The food was somewhat ok. The menus were on paper and were left on our table after we had ordered. We we reprimanded by an obnoxious head waiter for drawing on them... they were to be used again in spite of the corona situation. Beer only on 0,2 l glasses. We won’t be back.

One of the best pork knuckles I had in Germany over the years, with a generous helping of crackling! Friendly and welcoming service.
