This is a traditional hotel restaurant with starched white linen table covers, gleaming cutlery and condiment holders all set out, with stunning views of Lake Windermere. The portions are not massive but the quality of the food surpasses this and there is enough, as you will want to leave room for one of their lovely deserts. On my first visit I ordered the crispy salmon, which I can honestly say was the freshest and best cooked that I have ever had. The vegetables were also cooked to perfection with just a touch of crunch. On our second visit we tried the roast of the day which was roast lamb, this is my wife's favourite but I am not normally a fan of lamb. So tender and tasty was this port...
We made a reservation at Paisley's Restaurant over the phone two weeks before our planned visit and were assured the booking was confirmed. To our dismay, upon arriving at the Crag Manor Hotel, we discovered that the restaurant was closed. We were informed that it had not been open since the Covid lockdown and showed no signs of reopening in the near future. This raised questions as to why our reservation was accepted over the phone. Paisley's Restaurant is a part of the Crag Manor Hotel, and if this is how they handle their guests, it is surprising that anyone would choose to stay there.
Eventually, we were seated in a quiet restaurant with no atmosphere, where the tables were uncomfortably close together and no music was playing. A waiter with a sour expression approached us but barely spoke, making it difficult to even order drinks. When we noticed that our water glasses were dirty, we decided to cancel our order and leave. The lack of customer service at Paisleys was shocking, and we felt unwelcome throughout our short visit. We chose to dine at Hylton's instead, where we enjoyed a lovely three-course meal and would highly recommend it over Paisleys.
Didn’t really want a big meal tonight having been filled with last nights Indian and full English breakfast Again booked this again the day before wasn’t sure what to expect with this establishment being part of an hotel Oh forgot one reason we booked here was my wife’s favourite sweet was on the menu ,Eaton Mess and to be honest I think she would have this for all three courses given the chance But having had chicken supreme and a mince beef and onion pie the sweet was the icing on the cake ,so to speak Réservez une table maintenant
My family and I had a nice meal at this restaurant, you are shown to the longue from where you choose your food from a good menu. The dining room is lovely laid out with linen tablecloths. The service was very good and the portions, not huge but more than enough. The crumble was good and it was nice to have ice cream and custard rather than having to choose one or the other. There are lovely views from the dining room.
We were shown to the lounge and presented with menu's. which was varied. I am a vegetarian but found some nice options to choose from. The Restaurant is very elegant, however it advertises that it has a wonderful lake view form the windows of the Restaurant, which it has but at a distance. Overall the meal was lovely and the service good.
